25, mom of 2 and sleeving soon
Hi Mommas! I am 26 and a mother of 2. (2 yr old and 10 month old) I am getting sleeved in February and and nervous about the down time after. I don't have a lot of help and would like to know how long was it before you could take care of your babies? What could you do, and what , could you not do. I am hoping my mom can help some, but she loves far. My husband won't be able to take off work for long. Any insight os appreciated! Thanks

Any Band to Sleeve Success Stories Out There?!?
Congrats! How did your surgery go? I am very nervous to have the revision. I am 230 and want to make sure I am making the right decision!

Scared with a lot to think about
Thank You for your response. I agree with everything you have said. I guess when I got the band, my main goal was to get to a healthy weight to have children. So I was all for it whatever the risks. It was my last hope. Now that I have my babies, I feel like I overthink and over analyze everything. I am sure I will most likely do it, just very nervous at the moment.

Scared with a lot to think about
Thank you for your response. I agree that my weight is not ok for keeping up with my littles. I guess it was just hearing all his talk about leaks that had me mortified to be honest. He is the head surgeon of Barriatrics and has done NUMEROUS sleeves. When I asked how many revisions, he said he has done half a dozen. His track record is amazing, but that number is also low for me to consider....

Scared with a lot to think about
yes from band to sleeve. A sleeve alone is 1% When you have had a previous WLS the risk increases.

Scared with a lot to think about
Just had an appt with my Dr. and talked about revision. He let me know that the risk for leaks can be 15-20%. He said that could require tubing and being fed through and IV for weeks. (just explaining all complications per my request) I have two babies and couldn't even imagine having to deal with a leak! I am currently 232lbs. I have a couple options to consider.... 1. Take lapband out now and try to lose the weight with diet (which I have obviously failed at my whole life hence the lapband) NO revsion 2. Get down to 220lbs and have the lapband taken out and revision done in one operation 3. Have the lapband taken out now; try to lose weight on my own and if I fail, talk about having the revision done later. I was all for getting a revision, but now I am more nervous and scared about the whole process. I have a 1 and 2 year old and am not sure I want to risk my life and having complications to have a huge portion of my stomach removed.... I wish I could see into the future. Super anxious, nervous, and feeling defeated at the moment!

Just one question.... can you say though that once you hit your sweet spot it really helps the weight come off so much easier?

Second fill and loving it.
I am right there with you Gorda123. I was banded March 31st 2010. I was about 280lbs on the day of my surgery, loosing 20lbs, during my 2 week liquid diet. I am currently @ 265. I have a 10CC band, and my first fill was 3CC and my second only .5CC its frustrating to me since I feel like I can eat anything and I have noooooo restriction at all. Feels like I am doing this with only will power and dieting, which I couldve done without the band. I have days where I wonder if the band was the right thing to do. But then I look @ peoples stories and just keep telling myself I will EVENTUALLY hit my "sweet spot" Im just hoping sooner than later. I am scheduled for my 3rd fill June 28th, so hopefully they give me a little more and I can experience even a little restriction. : )

Where can I get the band for my 17 yr old daughter
Mexico is the only place you can go. No where in the US will do someone under 18.

anyone else getting banded on 3/31?
Hey Everyone! Not to sound too happy or ok.. but my surgery couldnt have gone any better! NO Problems, or complications. I definetly had the burpy feeling for about 3 days after the surgery but I feel almost 100%. I am ready to start excersizing again! I wish my incisions would just heal up already so I could get back to it! : ) As for diets, I also cannot believe how many different ones there are from different doctors. It blows me away! For me I was on a clear liquid diet for the first week (apple juice, Jello, broth, water) then now the secind week its all liquids... then week three mushies, but I have already added in some mashed potatoes. I drink
