I hurt the restaurants feeling...

Recommended Posts

Needed a shopping break so went to my favorite mexican restaurant. Ordered the 3 shredded chicken tacos...then I'd have dinner for a couple days! Saving a ton on food! So I ate my 1 taco, didn't touch the Water or chips and asked for a box. My waiter, bless his heart, was so worried. "Did you not like it? Can I bring you something else, do you want some warmer chips? Hotter salsa, cheese dip? Bottled water? He was do distraught. I didn't want to explain myself obviously so I assured him everything was delicious, which it was, and left. Poor guy was absolutely wringing his hands....

I'm very open about my sleeve. You would be amazed at how helpful waitstaff can be with suggestions on what to eat. I've only had positive responses. A lot of waitstaff are already aware of bariatric surgeries & some know people who have had this surgery.

I think I'm going to have to tell waiters I've had the sleeve. We eat out all the time. I take 2-4 bites and they ask me, is everything ok? I think of some excuse every time. ????

Hahaha, your post title made me laugh. I don't eat much of the food I eat when we go out because I tend to get sick, so servers are always concerned I didn't like the food. I just generally tell them I had a big lunch or that I ate too many chips (this is good for Mexican places that give you free chips) and ask for a to-go bag.

lol! Get ask that all the time. I tell them about the surgery, and then tell them food was delicious.

I can totally relate. I feel like I am offending them when I don't eat much. I tell them I can't eat much because of surgery but it was delicious. I don't think they believe me most of the time!

I haven't had a NY problems yet with tortillas I don't eat them much. However i have found hot that chicken tortillas are pretty awesome and usually lo call Hugh Protein. A "fresco" chicken taco even at taco bell is 140 calories and 10g protein. Great lunch in a pinch!

This very thing happened to me tonight, at our favorite Japanese restaurant. The owner is a good friend, and she was quite dismayed that I only ate half of my tofu teriyaki. I had to repeatedly assure her that it tasted great, but that I'd had surgery recently and couldn't eat very much.

This happened to me for the first time this weekend. I went to eat with a friend and just ordered Soup which I made only a slight dent in. When I asked for a to-go container she asked me if the Soup was warm enough, would I like a fresh bowl, and so I explained to her that I had just had surgery. She was super understanding and even had some questions for herself as she was interested in having it done. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Plus, that soup was still delicious the 3rd time I heated it up!

Also, did everyone get a bariatric surgery card to provide to restaurants in order to be able to order from a children's menu or smaller portioned menu? And if so, did it actually work for you? I am not quite to the point of trying to use it yet, but just curious.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
