So I am about 2.5 weeks post op and over the weekend I have been itching all over my body. My forearms, legs, neck, even groin (sorry, I know it is tmi). I have a rash on my neck but I don't see a rash anywhere else. I just itch intensely. I'm getting well over 64 oz of Fluid. My lips are also a little swollen and I have bumps on the bottom lip. I thought it might be a Coldstream but it isn't presenting like one. No constriction of airway or throat. So it doesn't seem to be anaphylaxis. Anyone else have these issues post op? I've got a call into my surgeon's office bit thought I would ask here as well. Thank you for any input!

Mine was dry skin. I was itching all over. I was putting lotion on 3x a day. Once I was able to get all my Water in for a couple weeks, it stopped.

Hi Jas,

About two weeks after my gastric sleeve surgeryI also had this intense itching and rash.it was around the 5 incisions and also spread to my thighs. I contacted my surgeon and he order cortisone cream. The whole thing cleared up after a month, the only explanation I can hint of is that the sleeve surgery had some product in it like a wire or staple or stitching that my body was having a reaction to. Hope that helps, my advIce? See your Dr. There isn't anything he hasn't seen.

I agree with OutsideMatchInside. I have been surprised at how much drier my skin is now even with getting all of my fluids in. Lotion and oil are your friend. I am 14 weeks out and still use lotion/body butter about once a week. Also, it is very hot in Texas right now (just in case you hadn't noticed..;) haha. That could be further drying out your skin.

Thank you all for the the advice. Going to see my primary care physician tomorrow at my surgeon's request. I am using lotion all over to help. It helps a little. :)

Could be reaction to pain medications. Oxycodone can cause itching. Dry skin can also be a culprit. Try some moisturizing lotion like Gold Bond, coconut oil. Could also be a soap or laundry detergent you are using. Recall if there was anything you have changed, ate, drank, taken or used in the past month that is new (other than your surgery) possibly food allergen as well. Good idea to check with your Dr. Or go see Dermatologist. Hope it let's up soon for you!

Thank you all for the feedback. I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon and he diagnosed it is an allergic reaction to the Omeprazole they put me on for acid reflux. They gave me two types of steroids in an injection and I feel much better today. My lips were actually starting to swell and get bumpy which made me (and the doc) think that it was a reaction. I just started taking the Omeprazole (first time I had ever taken it as well) the middle of last week. So it makes sense. I am taking Benadryl as well to help it along.

This is a good example of why people should see their doctor instead or in addition to asking on forums. Glad you got it taken care of.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
