Feeling hungry after eating dinner

Recommended Posts

Just had for dinner a can of tuna of 5oz plus had a multigrain thin bagel but i still feel like i can eat more and feel hungry. I am 3 months post-op and do not know if this is alot for me to be having and still feel hungry. Not too long ago i was able to get full with just eating a can of Tuna. Just feel confused about things.

That does seem like a lot, you don't want to stretch it out. Are you taking an antacid regularly? My constant hunger didn't seem to go away until the 5th month at least.

Im taking an antacid daily also..do not know when those the hunger (ghrelin hormone) starts diminishing. I guess i will ask my surgeon on my upcoming follow up visit in 4 weeks. The good thing about my surgeon is that he can put a scope down the esophagus on my visit and check quickly. Lets hope that it has not stretched..

Are you getting all of your Water in? That can add fullness.

Your stomach's volume does increase over time. When you're newly sleeved your stomach is swollen and angry. As it heals, you feel less restriction.

HOWEVER, your restriction at 3 months post-op should be quite considerable.

Are you eating the Protein first? Or are you mixing it all up with the bagel? If you're not eating all the tuna first, try that and see how that works for you.

And about that bagel, even though it's "multigrain" and "thin" ... try eating instead some higher Fiber (green or other colored vegetable) after you eat the tuna and see if that reduces your hunger.

I am eating the tuna first. I eat the " bagel" last just to try it out to see how bread goes down.. I always start with Protein first. I do know that as time passes the sleeve starts to increase in volume after much of the healing is done. Surgeon said to me that the first year is sorta " trial period" and that it takes a year for your new stomach to fully take shape and hence volume increasing in how much food can go down

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
