If you haven't had surgery yet what are you most afraid of?

I'm afraid of dying in the surgery

I'm afraid that I won't loose a pound and I will be a medical sleeve mystery

Anyone?????

I'm not afraid of dying in surgery; instead, I'm afraid of something going wrong with the surgery and leaving me with some sort of lifelong disability or major problem that will never go away.

I suppose I'm most afraid of the financial burden (cashed out investments to cash pay after we found out 6 weeks in, our insurance doesn't cover at all!) and down the road my weight loss tool doesn't work either.

I'm also afraid something could come up and my surgery will need to be delayed.

& I don't want extreme pain so everyone sees what a baby I really am!

This process has been an emotional roller coaster for me. I guess I'm so ready to put it all behind me (:

Sept 22 hurry & get here!!

Godspeed everyone & good luck (:

1. Losing friends who are opposed to WLS and don't know I'm having it.

2. Being unhappy about loose skin.

3. General anxiety about IV's, which I hate.

4. My school semester being negatively impacted/not being able to get to class/difficulty commuting for longer than I expect.

I'm terrified of the surgery itself. I came close to dying last year due to a blood clot in my brain, so I'm a huge surgical risk.

Then there's the fear of failure. Of going through this surgery and being weak willed.

Yes! I thought of this too! I also worry, "What if it turns out there's something in your stomach that you need to live a long time, and we're all getting surgery that still makes us die at 70 instead of 90?"

My surgery is Monday. Never have I felt such an array of emotions all at once...I been cheating on my pre op diet a little bit, and not sure how that's going to affect me during the surgery. Any advice would be great.

My surgery is Wednesday and all of a sudden an array of emotions came over me today as well. This my very last weekend as the me I know. I'm nervous, scared, excited but the closer I get the more nervous I become. I totally understand how you feel.

My biggest fear today is that I will be denied by my insurance company. I have been waiting since 8/4 for the call, and BCBS of AL says it could take "up to 30 days for the determination to be made". Grrrrr......

In terms of the surgery, I guess I am strange because I am more worried about getting the IV in than the surgery itself.

My biggest Fear is that despite of what people say, I have the surgery done, look Fabulous and year later START GAINING the weight back. :-( I've been researching the forum like crazy and you don't hear back from too many post op people greater than 2 years!!! Many who has succeeded are recent sleevers (less than 2 yrs) ... Once your tummy can handle normal food What if I gain it all BACK!!! ALSO, when lap band first came out, doctors made it sound like god's gift on earth... but look at all the side effects!!! What of same thing happens with the gastric sleeve?? We can't even reverse it!!! Ahhhh I am so scared!!!

I've had surgery in other areas before so going completely under anasthesia is not new. I've had my wisdom teeth pulled out and had to go under to put in and take out wires for my fractured pinky. In all honesty I'm always scared just before they put me under because of the loss of time. The doctor's always think I'm afraid of the actual surgery but it's mostly because of the loss of time. This time around I'm nervous about that and something going wrong inside. They're literally putting tube like things inside you!! >_< But it'll be okay, it'll all be okay. Positive thoughts and prays to everyone! :)

I'm worried about being too ridiculously sexy when I get to goal weight lol jk. I'm afraid of getting the sleeve and gaining all the weight back. Or not losing very much weight at all

First and for-most, Not being able to get the surgery approved by the insurance company.

In no particular order

1. Being naked in front of my coworkers! (I work at the hospital and I have to see these people in the cafeteria!)

2. Failure, not being able to lose weight or WORSE.... Gaining it back.
3. Pain, never had any so not sure how well I will tolerate it.

I'm only a few days away from mine and my only worry/concern is the level of pain after the surgery. Some people say its a lot others not so much.

That and being able to remember to actually eat when I have to.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
