If you haven't had surgery yet what are you most afraid of?

Recommended Posts

I have several fears such as dying and them finding other medical problems (i.e. cancer), but I fear weight regain the most.

I currently have the lap band. Lost 115 pounds. Had complications and gained it all back. So, now they have to do a band to sleeve revision.

So, yes...weight regain is my worst fear. I just want to lose weight and keep it off.

I guess my biggest fear is I won't feel better about myself. I also worry about not losing weight and still not being able to do the things that I really want to do.

Also hair loss and extra skin. But it seems like those are fairly common concerns and that makes me feel a little better about it.

I'm worried about becoming dehydrated/sick/malnourished from lack of water/food/vitamins etc. Most of all I worry about losing too much weight along with a lot of hair. I am stocking up on Vitamins and Protein Powder mix packs and also Biotin chewable. But I can't let any of thses fears stop me from doing what's good for my health.

I'm worried about being too ridiculously sexy when I get to goal weight lol jk. I'm afraid of getting the sleeve and gaining all the weight back. Or not losing very much weight at all

These are my same fears too. I've lost and regained triple digits before. I can't regain this again!

I find out my surgery date on October 1.

So it looks like either end of October or first week or so of November.

1. I'm scared of dying from leaks that no one catches until too late and I'm already septic.

2. Of stroking out/ blood clots during surgery or in recovery.

3. Me not losing that 125lbs that I need to lose.

4. Sagging and excessive skin. I'm so afraid that when I lose my weight that all I'm gonna look like is a granny.

5. That for some reason my husband loses his job aka insurance before they can submit it.

6. My insurance denying me

7. My copay being more than 3,000$ because I can't afford it.

8. I have lupus and take NSAIDs so worry about that.

Only thing that makes me some what ok is that my mom has been a med asst since 1971 and she will be with me at my house while I recover. So she'll know what to look out for in case of leaks and septicemia. And yea like the rest of you, my anxiety is pretty high.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
