Hey guys, I'll be having my sleeve in a few weeks!! Can't wait.

My surgery time is 8pm and my surgeon has another 6 sleeves to do before mine. Is this something to be worried about? Is it normal for such a late operation time? Thanks.

I have heard of a dr here in Dallas who in his busy time can supposedly do 12-18 sleeve surgeries a day! (I cannot imagine that but he is actually very well respected and not a hack. :) ) In order to do that, he must have some very late surgeries. 8 p.m. is certainly not ideal but not sure it would be worrisome (though if I have a choice I always ask to be first or second on any type of surgery merely because of the "nothing by mouth" rule for so long). I have had 2 surgeries at 3 p.m. (not WLS) and it was rough to get through without any Water or anything. I found myself swishing Water around in my mouth and spitting it out just because my mouth was so dry! If you don't have a choice of time, I think you will be fine. If you can be flexible on the date, I think I would ask for a different day with an earlier time - but that's just me.

My opinion is I would not have surgery at 8 pm. That's one long day for the guy cutting me open for an elective procedure.

Is there any way that you can ask for an earlier surgery time. 8 pm seems a little late in the day and you have to wonder how tired the surgeon, OR team and the recovery team will be by that time of night. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!

Would not do that.

Reschedule.

Ditto. I wouldn't have it at 8pm both for the NPO and the tired surgeon reasons. Best of luck.

Glad you were able to reschedule. So sorry you have to wait an extra 5 days. I know that's frustrating but I definitely think you will be happier with an earlier time.

it's all good. I've been overweight my whole life. I don't mind waiting that extra 4 days because I know I have a better life coming my way. My new time will be given the day before surgery but they said it'll be before 11am

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
