How many sizes did you lose?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled August 17th. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding exactly 2 months afterwards. Obviously, I had to pre-order my dress and that was the most difficult decision I had to make. What if I don't lose enough...what if lose too much....these questions still weigh on my mind.

How many sizes did you guys lose from about the time of the pre-op diet to 2 months out from surgery?

I am 12 weeks out and went down just about 2 sizes. No worries, they can alter your dress. You will be fine.

I just went back through my progress charts and I lost 48.8 pounds in the first 2 months. If I had to think back to that time, I started out in a size 20 and at that point (between thanksgiving and christmas of my first year) I was probably in a size 14.

I am 8 weeks out. Lost 40 lbs on my own, and 30 lbs since surgery. That is a total of 70 lbs. I have only went down one size.

Wow, such amazing progress. I only ordered my dress one size down from where I am now (there wasn't a dress in my size). I feel like I should be able to fit this dress by the time of my friend's wedding. I would hate to let her down, she knew I was having surgery and though I asked if she may have a backup choice to fill my spot she has stuck with me. She choose lace dresses so it would be much easier to alter down then it would be to alter up.

I don't know if you have experience with ordering dresses or if you have a large chest but I will give you my experience. I have a large bust and I lost about 30lbs before my wedding. My boobs did not get any smaller. I ordered a 14. When the dress arrived, it zipped over my stomach fine but that zipper was not going to meet when it got close to my boobs. My stomach was a 14, my boobs however were a 20. So they had to rush order another dress. Moral of the story is buy the dress to your bust, they can take in the stomach but cannot let out enough for your bust. I have the same issue now, I have lost around 50lbs since I started my sleeve journey and my boobs are still huge.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
