@@fldianna - Welcome.

Where in the Lightening Capital are you located? I am in NE Florida.

I am also in NE Florida. Just scheduled my final weigh in with my surgeon for 7/30. I hope to be sleeved mid August. I have told a select few family and friends, but not many. It's not their business. I have the support of my mom, husband and kids and that's all that matters.

I am also looking for friends / support network. I have just recently moved to NY. My surgery is scheduled sometimes in November, all my friends have BMI's in the normal range so it is hard to discuss this with them - my husband is not particularity supportive either, I think he is a bit worried how this will affect our current social life.

Initially I contemplated not telling anyone except my husband. I don't want to feel judged. People have a tendency to look at surgery as taking the easy way out, when it couldn't be further from the truth. I ultimately decided that I would tell a few people that would likely find out anyway. I figured I would rather be judged for taking action, than be crudely judged for being fat. Only my MIL has been skeptical. I will prove her wrong!

I think it's important to have someone to chat with that knows what you're going through. Sometimes support best comes from people that have been there or are there now. I am hoping to find a buddy as soon as I get my date.

Hi all! I'm looking for all of the buddies I can get! I have one more lab to go (scheduled for next week) then hopefully I will have a date. Because my insurance was very quick to approve, I feel like I have been waiting forever. My immediate family knows and is very supportive. I also told my boss and one close colleague. When I told one of my best friends, she kind of flipped out, told me that all I needed was her to kick me in my ass a little harder....I was not expecting that, so I've told no one else and don't think I will. When my surgery is scheduled I think I might tell those that need to know that I'm having gall bladder surgery. Any thoughts???

Yeah I Feel The Same Way. My Quote Is: If You Don't Have Nothing Good To Say, Don't Say It At All.

August 4th here. Start my pre-op diet on Tuesday. I'm excited, and terrified. My family and friends are all really supportive but you can never have too much support.

Mine isn't liquid. It's a 1500 calorie low carb low fat diet to shrink the liver before surgery. All hospitals and surgeons require different things.

Yeah, I'm having mine in Nyc

. Hey there, where in NYC are you having it done. I decided on Lennox Hill Hospital. I just started my journey though. Meeting with the surgeon for the first time next month. I'm so anxious to have an actual surgery day.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
