I was in the emergency room this morning and apparently I'm having pains from not going in 4 days... I got my sleeve Tuesday and still haven't gone. Tried mineral oil, softeners, benefiber, Water, and haven't taken any pain pills. Help!!

Might be time for the ever popular Fleet Enema! Warm it up slightly in the microwave and let it do its work! Good luck! What did they say at the ER?

That's so funny, because you're right, it's not exactly something you can casually bring up with your work buddies! (lol) I actually went almost 2 weeks! (never felt bad, but was on mostly liquids) Then accidentally I tried a little coffee. To say the least, things evened out! I don't think I'll do coffee again anytime soon. (lol)

If you're not uncomfortable I wouldn't worry too much... but I'd also try "smooth move" tea. I didn't go for nearly a week after my surgery and my nutritionist said this was normal between the anesthesia and the liquid diet. However I found it weird and drank the tea to speed things up. It's good to have on hand for this sort of thing.

Why not call your surgeon before going to the ER?

I didn't go for almost a week and a half after surgery. Never took anything, I was informed that I may only go 1 to 2 times a week, so I didn't worry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
