I'm in such a hurry!

I'm starting week 4 and am down about 15-20lbs (depending on Water weight) I fluctuate. I just feel discouraged it seems like it's been so much longer than 3 weeks! Feels like 3 months. I started with a lower bmi so I know they says it's slow going. I know I should just be happy with my new tool and be excited that a few drinks of Protein Shake makes me feel full. I should also be happy the mood swings and extreme cravings are behind me but I just want more results faster. I'm impatient I know!!! I just have to stick to getting my protien and water in everyday and walking walking walking!! I also started squats lunges and push-ups (off the wall) to start toning and building muscles a bit! I'll be glad when I can really lift weights again! I have tons to be grateful for I know I'm just impatient and ready to look like myself again!!!

I feel your pain, I am also getting impatient. I only lost one pound this week. I went through a 9 day stall. I get it that it will come off as long as I follow my plan. I just want to scream today though...lol

I think this just happens for us at times. Even though I have lost 67 pounds overall I feel frustrated today. idk why I just do. Tomorrow will be better and we will look back and smile about when we were so impatient. We've got this!! Hang in there and I will too!

I feel your pain also. I'm 4 weeks down.... and have been in a 2 week stall. Its so frustrating, I feel like I'm doing everything right but have not lost a single pound. I dropped almost 30 pounds in the two weeks, which I'm super grateful for and got off my bp meds... yahoo! But yes I'm feeling super frustrated right now! Keep on keeping on!!! Best of luck to you both!!!

It's very frustrating I feel like even though I'm following the plan it's just not good enough! The only time I felt like it was good enough was on full liquids! I want to go back to full liquids almost! It's just a mental hang up I know! Didn't gain it overnight and I won't loose it overnight! Just gotta keep keeping on!

I'm there too! Temped to go back to clear liquids! Stalled for 2weeks on full liquids, I never ate this much sodium (in the Soup and cottage cheese) so I'm hoping for a change with purée meats and vegetables!

I know just what you mean... the first month, I was losing a pound a day almost! Of course I sort of took it for granted because I wasn't eating. Now that I can tolerate solids (at 6 weeks) I'm stalling, and even put a pound back on! It makes me afraid, and I want to stop eating solids and go back to the shakes. I've started obsessing about food, like "maybe I should only have 1/2 that tiny chicken strip" when I used to eat 10x that much! I guess this is my first test, to see if I can make this "lifestyle thing" work. It's intimidating and scary... to not lose would seem so horrible after everything.

I'm right there with you DreamWeaver! Everyday I'm worried I did this for nothing. I'm still on full liquids and feel like it's not good enough. I can drink a whole shake at a time and don't feel overly full! I thought I'd be full after a couple of ounces! Arrrgh.

I feel you. I'm almost 4 months post op and I've been in a stall and frustrated for a couple reasons. 1) I have no problem drinking a Protein shake in less then 20 minutes and have been this way since 1 week post-op. 2) I follow the nutritionists guidelines and eat my Protein and calories, consume between 65-80 oz of Water a day and haven't lost anything in 3 weeks.

I am In a Support group through the surgical office and have tried talking to them about it and it just makes me feel worse. I feel worse because people with a lower BMI (mine is currently at 53) have lost more weight in less time and people that had surgery the same week have lost more. When I ask what they are doing compared to what I'm doing I again feel like a failure. Some of the people are 6+months out and still at 300-400 calories a day. At 2 weeks I was told to move to 600-800 calories and at 6week 800-1000 and I tell people that and they are appalled. So I tried going backward in calories - back to 600-800 but I am hungry ALL THE TIME! I try to make good choices but this past week since I haven't lost anything in over 2 weeks I've just given up.

Anyway, just came looking to see if anyone else has any of these issues or thoughts since I'm apparently unique my my face-to-face support group and it discourages me so bad.

Try thickening up your shakes I do almond milk and zero carb Isopure powder! Full of protein. No carbs and very filling in a blender with ice! Fills me up at like 140 calories and 25 gms protein. I drink 2-3 a day with grilled chicken, tuna, pork tenderloin, or some type of lean meat every few hours. Or 1/2 cup cottage cheese. After 2-3 Ounces of meat I'm full. Ground chicken is also really lean and yummy and filling (I put home made taco seasoning on it)! I eat veggies a couple days a week but shy away from Beans and legumes as the high carb content stalls me I stay as low carb as possible except one day a week I allow myself carbs from nuts Beans and nut butter etc (carb cycling). Eating every couple hours keeps me from being to hungry. The lean meats keep my calories low everyday. Measure and record everything! Before I got a good scale I thought I wasn't eating much but turned out I was eating double what I should have been. Hope it gets better for you! Sorry your group isn't very supportive! It'll get better! You can do it!

How is your activity level and when are you eating your meals. ? I get really stuck too. I have done a few correction days - Clear Liquids. And then back to softs. I'm trying paleo meals, (sliced low sodium deli roast beef) my thyroid got off track too and needed my medication upped. I found that if I eat Protein meals before 4 pm and a shake made with Water at 6 pm. I was better off. Also. The deli will measure the meat in 4oz servings.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
