So. I was approved for my surgery but I still needed to complete my insurance required medical weight loss for six months and find the hospital that has a medical center of excellence. Well I found out today that the nearest one is 6 hours away from me. And I'd need to stay about a week since they would acctually have to open me up (scar on my stomach is too rough or thick for the liproscopic. (At least I think that's what they ment) and I sit and think. How am I going to be able to get there and afford to stay there for a week and make sure all bills got paid and have someone willing to watch daughter for a week. Then drive the 6 hours back.. I'm feeling discouraged

Do you have any local family that could watch your daughter? Or maybe is there a Center of Excellence near a family member?

I am at the first minute of the process, so I don't know what to suggest. Just wanted you to know I will pray for the right things to fall into place for you.

My "family" doesn't support me in this. And won't watch my daughter. And if they do they expect to be paid for it being that long. And I already have enough trouble with bills and need to save for the 6 hour trip there and back and for whom ever goes woth me to have food money. I'm praying hard. But it's hard..

I'm so sorry for your situation. It's hard enough going through this difficult process, and even more so when you don't have the support of family and friends.

Sadly and unfortunately far too often, the word "family" is exercised in name only. I'm lucky enough to have the full support of mine. I wish you too had that kind of strength to rely upon. Support is the one thing that every bariatric program stresses as the key foundation for a successful wls outcome. I didn't fully understand why myself until I began my own journey.

With everything you are dealing with right now you might have to consider putting it off for awhile, as unpleasant as that would be. The only other suggestion I can offer is that maybe you could find a support group in your area that could perhaps offer you other options to explore.

It's hard, I know, being so close to the one thing you want most, only to have it remain cruelty just out of reach. I truly hope you can find the answers you are seeking. Good luck!

Yeah. I just. Don't want to put it off then never go back to it... I'm afraid I'll get father behind and it will just get more and more out of reach

Don't give up.

Keep going forward and use the 6 months to gather the funds you will need to stay the week and for child care during that week.

This is totally doable. I think you were thrown off by the 6 hours away news.

It will make it a bit more challenging but it will be SO worth it.

Dallas. As far as I've been told. There is one 3 hours from me but they said it's better if I go to the one In dallas.

If it's a center of excellence and 3 hours away then use the closer one.

It'll make it a little easier to manage.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
