Hi. I am from Edmonton and I am about to book my surgery with Dr. Rodolfo Wilhelmy at the Mexicali Bariatric Center. Has anyone use this dr or center and what was your experience like? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

@choicemun Bring slippers/shoes to walk around in after surgery. Pajamas. Sip sip sip sip after. I would have started to sip before surgery had I known it was going to be such a transition. I didn't go where you are going but I would do it all over again even with a rough recovery. Take some gas x with you. On plane home, get up and walk around a bit

Hello Amberbo. I am from Edmonton and was not able to find a payment plan for Canadians . I am thrilled with my surgery. I had mini gastric bypass on september 24 2015 and am down 71 pounds. Over halfway to goal. I have no regrets at all. I used a different company called Beliteweight. I wish I would hve done this year's ago!

I had a very easy recovery. No pain or complications. Sip sip sip is right. It will seem like you are constantly drinking at first. Either Water or Protein Drinks. But it gets better for sure. Best of luck on your journeys!

Hello!

I am east of Toronto, and my VSG is booked with Dr. alejandro lopez in Puerto Vallarta on 12 May 16. I fly out on the 11th, and back home on the 16th.

I am excited and apprehensive at the same time. I don't have a LOT of weight to lose (60 lbs), but I am doing it more for my health...I'm on 3 types of BP meds, and am borderline diabetic. I'm 51 and tired of carrying all of this extra weight around.

I'm looking forward to hearing and reading about other Canucks :)

Hello everybody! So glad to have found this forum where I can discuss the topic with other Canucks. I am researching doctors for a good friend of mine who is seriously considering undergoing a lap-band or gastric sleeve procedure in the near future. Still in the early stages of my research, have been poking around different websites and to be honest it's all quite overwhelming. There just seem to be so many clinics in Mexico offering the same procedures.

I've gone through the posts in this thread and had a question: is there is a difference between choosing a surgeon who is affiliated with a group, such as BeLiteWeight as mentioned above, or one who heads their own clinic, such as Dr Ariel Ortiz or Dr Guilermo Alvarez or Dr Liza Maria Pompa Gonzalez?

I noticed that the three companies I've been looking at - ALighterMe, Mexico Bariatric Center and BeLiteWeight - all state at the bottom of their websites that they are limited to "scheduling services and are not a medical facility or healthcare provider." What exactly is the job of scheduling facilitators and are there benefits in choosing them over a doctor who has his/her own clinic?

Thanks in advance for any feedback as I am learning lots!

After doing much research and watching a few YouTube videos, I finally put a deposit down with Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. I have been on the Weight Wise "list" for close to 8 months with no call back yet. The cost is $5000 and 2 hotel nights are included. I went directly through Nathalie to book the appointment and the response time hasn't been the best, but I didn't want to pay extra for a scheduling service.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
