Everyone's planned or already had Food Funerals?

Recommended Posts

tomorrow will be my visit to my surgeons office for the pre-op talk and to officially set me on my path for the diet before surgery. Today me and my girlfriend went to our favorite spot - CHEESECAKE FACTORY- I soo had my favorite calamari and avocado rolls and a margarita. :D

last couple of weeks I have been eating what I want since I have the feeling that it will be quite a long time before I can before me and food can reunite and we do it will be a distant one, come this weekend, we part.

I have been eating healthfully and mindfully for a couple of weeks and I was feeling good. I just came down with a cold and was in need of some comfort food so I decided to make spaghetti carbonara for dinner last night. I couldn't smell it or taste it. It was a total disappointment. My partner said it tasted great. I think it was a sign. I don't feel like eating anything now. I think it's a good time to start my pre-op diet ????

I went to my favorite steakhouse and had my last meal (as though I were a death row inmate). Then, I respectfully wrote a break-up letter to food.

I think we all do things our own way, in our own time.

I planned out my last meals so carefully.....

Wanted chicken Alfredo, so I called in an order and went to pick it up. Got home and it was the wrong thing....great.

Then, my brother wanted to take me out for the very last meal on Sunday night (started pre-op diet the next AM) and all I wanted was the biggest and highest calorie, hot fudge yummy dessert. So he took me to his favorite place (I wasn't in my home town) and kept raving about this one chocolate Revenge dessert...... ordered it and they had changed the recipe. It was barely mediocre. Guess that's the food Gods getting revenge on me!!!

I didn't have any food funerals. I knew that I'd be able to eat again. I did plan a nice dinner before starting my liquid diet. But it was just a nice filet at a nice restaurant. Nothing crazy. No dessert. I was mentally ready I think.

I would read of folks hitting all their favorite places and ordering crazy things prior to surgery. On the one hand I get it, but it seemed kind of sad too.

I was lucky enough to have a 10 day business trip about a month prior to my upcoming surgery. It was nice to be able to eat out to places I wouldn't normally got to with the wife and kids, and have my employer foot the bill. I haven't really felt like I needed a food funeral after I got back home.

No food funeral for me. I have Kaiser so I completed the 12 weeks of classes in the options program. During that 12 weeks I had to lose 10% of my body weight which required me to change the way I eat. After finishing that class, eating the way that I used to upset my stomach so much that consuming the food wasn't even worth it to me. My surgery is in 2 weeks, during that time I am going to focus on not gaining all of the weight back that I had lost. Also, during my surgery consultation the doctor warned me about participating in food funerals lol

I won't lie, throwing away all the food in my pantry was harder than my last meal. As long as it was in there, it would be a temptation, but I felt awful just chucking it out. So, my friend challenged me to make a silly video saying goodbye to any bad food left in my house, and then donate it to a food pantry at the local community college.

I thought about all the favorite foods I would like but I ended up not because with my salt problem its not the smartest thing for me to do! So good for anybody that did it and for the others good for you to hang tough, this the way our life has to be, like someone else said this won't be our last taste of something good we are I our way to to a healthier better life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
