Where are you buying Bariatric Fusion? The creamsicle flavor sounds good. We have Premier Protein and I prefer the vanilla and strawberries & cream.

They have a website bariatricfusion.com but there's also 3 places around me that sell it. Pine pharmacy is one of them and with my health insurance I had a $250 health benefits card. Pine pharmacy was included so I only paid for a portion of what I bought. I had used some of the money on the card to pay for my son's soccer program.

I'm from Naples :)

Hi Naples ! 3 days to go here!
I have 3 days til I leave to get sleeved!

OMG omg I am nervous for u!! I wish u luck and for a quick and (mostly) painless recovery! Please check back in and tell me how things are going. (I don't go until the 29th). I have noticed myself doing "food funerals" but not on purpose. Accidental food funerals - probably self conscious. Like a bagel w cream cheese. And coke (I don't even usually drink coke but now knowing I might not enjoy it- I'm having more of it).

The thing that kept me from food funerals is this single quote that has become my mantra...

"You will eat again"

I don't have to eat all of the bad stuff now just in case. I just look at it as, well maybe I'll eat it another day after the surgery, we will see. It might not work for everyone but for me the reassurance that I can revisit the decision to eat or not eat a food at a latter date is really helpful.

Me too. I wasn't planning on it, but ended up eating really poorly. I started my pre-op diet early. I am hapy to have some structure and just not feel gross from overeating. The Protein Drinks are ridiculously gross tho but it'll be worth it!

And yes, that's a great mantra. I will eat it again one day. We aren't breaking up with the food, it's just a well needed break! Some "me" time. Lol

Today starts my pre-op liquid/liver reduction diet. My surgery isJuly 13th so 10 more days! I just hope I can get through this liquid phase!

10 more days yay! What are you planning to drink for liquids? I am also nervous about the liquid phase. My surgery is on the 29th.
I have to do 4 Protein Shakes a day that I'm mixing with unsweetened almond milk, sugar free clears (popsicles, jello) sugar free gum, fat free broths, 1/2 cup non strachy veggies a day for chewing. I plan to mix them with my broth to make "soup"

Good luck with your surgery!

That's a great idea. Are you hungry so far? What Protein Powder did you end up getting? I like the synthrax nectar fuzzy navel. I am looking for an unflavored one for Soups or Jello. Good luck with your surgery too. I may check back in w u post op to see how it went? (If that's ok). I have like no pain tolerance and am quite scared. I've had a c section before wonder if it hurts more, less, or the same with this?

I've had three C-sections and my last one was hard to recover from so I am anxious to go into surgery on Tuesday. I'm praying it will be less painful for sure.

I'm loving Unjury and nectar Protein powders. Injury has a savory chicken Soup flavored one I love. I mix it with broth and heat it up.

l'm So hesitant to try the chicken broth one .

It's pretty good. I mix it with broth and it doesn't have the protein after taste.

I must be the onky weirdo tgat loves Protein Shakes and drinks them all the time. They are great for Hair growth.< /p>

When I wake up in the morning, i start my pre-op. It is only 10 days and i can do 10 days standing on my head. I am worried about the lower energy at first since i have so many errands to run pre-op. I also have hair, nails, a pedicure I need to fit in over the next 10 days.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
