I am almost one month out and I've noticed a HUGE difference in my bowels. First of all, I used to go every day, now I'm going every three days. Also, the stools are so hard and almost painful...is this normal?!

@@raquel_c (warning..TMI) Oh yes!! OMG!! I nearly called an ambulance a couple of times because it was stuck and would not come out of my body! I freaked out! Now I take a chewable Fiber pill and Miralax every day. At least till I have some veggies and fruit in my diet. I thought it was due to the pain meds , and it might have been at first, but that was 4 weeks ago, and I had another episode last week. It scared me!! It was like a dang boulder stuck in my body!! MIralax is your friend.

I'm not looking forward to my next bm. I've only had one since surgery and I'm 9 days out. It was extremely painful. Not sure what I can take for it this early but considering coffee

I used stool softeners. They worked wonders!

Same here. I even had to take MOM just to go every 3 days and it was super hard....even caused bleeding. Once I started adding insoluble Fiber to my shakes and yogurt, I've had regular, soft daily BM's.

For me, soluble fiber like Metamucil and benefiber did nothing. It had to be insoluble fiber. I currently use a mixture of ground flax seed and Now Foods apple fiber.

I'm 6 months out and still have occasional bouts of Constipation. My go to is a combination of Smooth Move tea and colace. DW has no problems and she had surgery same day. Hope every thing comes out okay ????

I went through the same thing and then started taking Miralax. Now I take prunes if I start to get constipated.

Thanks everyone! I'm hoping when I can add more to my diet, this will be a thing of the past

I have Smooth Move tea but haven't taken it, I will have to change that.

I drink smooth move tea daily! It doesn't make me run to the restroom, but keeps things soft and painless when I do go. If I suffer from severe Constipation, I continue with that but add a laxative when I know I'll be home to go. Definitely not like prior to surgery. Just know it's very common and happens to us all! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
