So ladies I went to the ED yesterday and of course the ED nurse practitioner started telling me oh it's the time of the year when skin gets dry... blah blah and I wanted to tell her "Lady, I'm Black! All we do is put lotion on!" Anyway, she also mentioned itching can come from a low fat diet and I might need to add more fats to my diet. She did labs and X-rays and gave me IV fluids in addition to nausea meds (lifesaver) and itching meds. The itching meds calmed it down a little, but it still didn't stop! I'm so baffled. She sent me home with Zofran (thank you sweet baby Jesus) and told me to call my surgeon. Last night when I got home I was able to keep some chicken Soup down. I'm calling OCC in the morning. I was thinking of buying extra nausea meds while I was there, and should have. If I need to, I can always drive down there tomorrow. HoosierGirl, I hope your right. I look like the poor dogs I used to see with fleas scratching themselves raw. Its embarrassing and I know I'm making people nervous, but I can't stop! I'm all blotchy red. Now that I know it's nothing serious, I will take my Benadryl and wait until it passes.

Good to hear you're feeling a bit better. My skin is itchy too but I put it off to dry winter skin. Low fat makes sense.

Here's to your full recovery!!

He was my surgon and I just had it done Dec 4 and I feel great!!!! Everyone was very heplful and I felt very safe as I went byself. They have there own time down there nothing starts befor noon. It was cold there and they dont really have heat there so ask for the remote for the heater in your room and take warm clothes and shoes. I froze the whole time.

What time did you go over for surgery? If nothing starts before noon you go a really long time without eating. Janise emailed me my Final Confirmation and Post Op Diet today. It stated that you can't have anything to eat or drink after 10pm the night before surgery. That's a really long time without something to drink. I better prepare myself.

my surgery was at 2:30 but they have all hours of the day and night. You will be fine they give you Ivs and I was never hungry. Take some tea that you like and mio drops as those really hepled. Take some warm clothes as the heat is not really good there. As for the remote in the hosp room for the heater.

HAF - congrats! Totally relate to your pre-op freak out! Made myself crazy with random thoughts, needless worry and bizarre dreams before surgery. Hit me up with your craziness - because I get it!

In all seriousness, the 19th will be here before you know it. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks Hoosiergirl. Your experience helped make up my mind about Dr. Ortiz :)

Adoptive mom, perhaps I'll see you. Oddly enough, I'm the very blessed mom of a 16 month old baby boy through adoption :)

This whole thing feels so surreal. I've been researching forever but to finally get a date.....scary!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
