So today I am starting my pre-op diet again after having my surgery rescheduled from April 28th to May 26th. Luckily, my girlfriend here at work is doing the liquid diet with me. For lunch, we took our shakes and walked to the riverfront. As we were talking we concluded that the first day of the liquid diet is not the worst, we think day 2 is.

Which day was the worst for you?

None of it was really that bad but then all pre-op diets are not equal lol. Mine was Protein shakes, yogurt and Gatorade. I made it for 14 days and it wasn't all that bad. I think knowing its temporary really helps. Good luck with your surgery!

I'm on day 5 of a 3 week pre-op diet. Mine is a shake for Breakfast a Protein snack, a shake for lunch, a fruit for snack them a "sensible" mealtime include 4 oz of protein 2 servings of starches and 2 servings of veggies. Day 1 was thy worst for me because I wasn't prepared for the shakes. I didn't have ones I liked. But it's gotten better. Thank goodness!

When I did the pre op diet which was 5 days full liquids and 2 days clears I found it much easier than I thought it was going to be. When I've tried to do a liquid diet on my own just to try to get back to basics, I've found it miserable. Not sure why it's different.

My pre-op diet has been a choice of lean Protein and unlimited non-starchy vegetables or a Protein Shake 3x's a day. No fruit, dairy, Pasta, breads or rice of any kind. I've got one more day left and then Wednesday I'm on all Clear Liquids. I'm starting to really get nervous at the fact that this is non-reversable. It's a huge commitment and I've been planning this for over 7 months, but the whole anesthesia thing has been a huge psycho factor for me so I'm trying to get my nerves under control. So many what if's to consider. I'm healthy with no real issues other than my obesity and mildly high cholesterol, so I've been afraid that the operation may actually create issues. I'm praying that is NOT the case!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
