I'm two weeks post op RNY. So today I need to trade out my winter clothes for summer clothes. It dawned on me that I won't need the winter wardrobe I currently have again. I can't wrap my mind around that. I have a smidgen of 'will it work that well' doubt, making me contemplate holding on to everything, just in case. I held on to some of my smaller sizes and I'm thanking my stars I did, it'll save money as I move down in sizes.

And another part of me knows I need to let go of my 'fat security blanket'. But there is a familiarity with the wardrobe I have now. I made a point to buy clothes I loved that made me feel good in them, classy etc.

Of course I'll love shopping and creating the same with smaller sizes... But letting go ... It's not hard... Just weird.

I've saved so many clothes throughout the years, I should be pretty covered also. However-what was cute 5-10 years ago is definitely not cute now!!!!! Why was I saving them?!?!?? Sooooo, my punishment to myself is that I have to wear everything at least 1 more time before getting rid of them. I think this will help me not want to hold on to the fat clothes. Not to mention, sell them to buy new CUTE clothes. You deserve it!

I feel the exact same way! I have chosen to take it slowly. I let my warm sweaters go to Good Will this week. Next week it will be all the pants I have "out grown/under grown". The shirts can work alright for the next 5 weeks until school is out for summer.

Wow what a revelation, a very happy/scary revelation. Yours made me just realize that for myself. WOW ???? I'm definitely gonna pull out the sewing machine soon. There are some things I can simply alter. I definitely have saved my smaller clothes from 10 yrs ago. And yes some will be outdated, but some pieces are classic, not going out of style things. I just can't wait to go shopping in my own closet ????

After three weeks post RNY, have lost many inches, also dipped into the skinny clothes. Over the last six months, started buying several sizes down in basic clothes (you know us country men, socks, underwear, jeans and T-shirts -- all we need) as a way to show myself that the surgery was going to get approved, and that the body would heal.

I also have saved some jeans over the years which were ordered too small. I have one pair from 1988! Brand new, but those will wait until fall!

I have on loose jeans that I could not get on pre-surgery. Wahoo! My wife got her skinny little arms all the way around me this morning!

I too went through my closet just last weekend. I have everything from size L to 3XL. I took all my 3XL's and gave them to my cousin. She was super excited. I'm wearing my 2XL's now but they're even loose. I went through my underwear drawer yesterday and tossed my size 9 panties and pulled out the 8's. You see I lost down to 167 in 2008 and got down to these smaller sizes. Glad I held on to most things. That memory was brought back when I pulled out the size 6 panties and couldn't believe how small they looked. How did I ever fit into those?! As I continue to shrink, I will just put my clothes up for sale in my eBay store. I've had a lot of success selling my old clothes on the site. I'll put all that cash away for new skinny clothes. How exciting will that be?! I wish you all continued success. We got this!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
