I am going to be banded in August. After two years of hoping, wishing,

and praying, things have fallen into place and it's here!!!! My insurance

would not cover it, so I have to self pay. I am a bit nervous about the actual procedure and the lifestyle change, but I am determined to do it.

I will be forty in a few short years and I want to be healthy and slim

for the rest of my life! :clap2:

I am with you, I want to be healthy and happy... I am not so worried abou the procedure but I am worried about some of the lifestyle changes, mostly no soda... it's my alcohol. BUT I want to be runnig around with the kids, feeling good and looking good so I guess no more soda!!!

I hate the thought of giving up soda also!!! I've been doing a lot of research on the internet about the procedure and what to expect

after, but reading posts from actual people who have had it done

has been a better resource to me. I have learned that it is not a

magical cure, but a tool. I used to take Phentermine to suppress

my appetite, but was so worried about the havoc it could have

on my body such as a stroke. I mean, it worked for awhile but

then my body would get used to it, and it stopped working.

I have tried everything. I can't tell you how relieved I am to know

that the rest of my "new life" is going to start very shortly.

I am so ready!:whoo:

StacieM I have seen the surgeon, the appointment with the nutritionist and psych will happen during the 2 week pre-op diet...all that they lack is for us to pick a date. Technically it could even be July, we just have to give them 2 weeks warning. We are just working on finalizing the money and dh taking off work for a few days to tend to the farm and kids while I am down.

I feel really blessed to be able to be a midwife. I finished my training before I had any children. Since my 4th was born I severely limited my practice and only in the last few years have I started to be comfortable with being more busy as my olders are now old enough to handle pretty much anything that arises at home.

I just found out today that we will be submitting to insurance soon but they said I have overkilled them with info (thanks to suggestions from here!) that they don't see any way that they can deny me. I am still on track for an august date!

What a great attitude... I am with you on the tool and ready for my new life... BUT... (see it still gets in the way) I am already thinking about the headaches/migraines from caffeine withdrawl and not having the "out" soda gives me. I have been looking for replacements though... I will get there.

I have a date - Aug 10th and I'm freaking out a bit. Am anxious to start the process but scared at the same time. I'm glad to find a group to begin the journey with!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
