Hoping for summer VSG (Mexico? Loans?)

Recommended Posts

This is a bit of an introduction since I have stopped lurking and officially got an account. I have been considering VSG for a little over a month and am set on it. I am a preschool teacher and am hoping to have the surgery this summer. I have Molina (medicaid) insurance and feel like it would be very hard to get it covered and just plain don't want to wait a whole year to have the surgery if I can even get covered. For this reason I am very seriously considering Mexico. I would need to get "financing" for the surgery. I am wondering about people's expriences with Mexico, loans, wait time, etc.

Sorry for being so long winded and vague. Just looking for some anecdotal information from people who have gone through this sort of process or are currently in my position!

Oh I can't advertise it direct, but one email to coordinator and she will tell you

They have excellent financing, I know several people that did it that way, I just put it on my credit card

I have been reading up already and he seems like a very good choice. Pricier than the others I have seen but seems to have nothing but positive reviews. Unfortunately on my teacher's salary the range seems steep for me but worth it. I was also looking into ponce de leon. I will contact them about financing if I continue to like what I see. I am in research phase.

Take your time to research each doctor..talk to David Lopez on here as he can help you find all the information you need.

After a year of research I decided on Dr Zavalza. He has been incredible with his patients and is very hands on with me. Even before putting a deposit down he will Skype with you and answer any questions you have. Also his patients have a Facebook group where we discuss everything.

I would suggest talking to David Lopez first.. go from there he can help you with everything and he is fantastic with helping set everything up...

good luck in your search :)

I have been in contact with David Lopez and am waiting to hear back about some of my questions. Dr. Zavalzq was another I am considering. I have ruled some out and think I need to start a list or a T chart!

I used Citerra for outside financing and it's great. I applied on Sunday was approved and had paperwork by Wednesday. Depending on the amount of the loans it's 225.00 a month and there's no balloon payment for an early pay off. Interest isn't so bad and I'm pretty excited.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
