I'm having surgery on the 30th and I'm ready but scared to death! I've never been admitted into a hospital let alone have surgery. The 10 day liquid diet is coming up in 3 more days and I just feel very uneasy about it. Am I going to feel like I'm starving? Any helpful hints or tricks are definitely appreciated!

Congrats on your surgery date, I'm having mine on the 28th and started my liquid diet on the 14th, which makes today my 4th day on it. let me tell you I do not know how I made it thru the first 3 days. I was hungry all the time, but today I feel a lot better and for the 1st time I really believe I'll follow thru. If I had to choose, the one thing that kept me honest these last three days was thinking that they would open me up and not be able to do the surgery because I didn't follow my diet. Also my nut called yesterday and told me I have H. pylori which won't affect surgery date, but now I have to drink a ton of antibiotics for the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, I have the same fear. I do NOT want to mess this up now! There's too much on the line for me to mess up now, but I'm glad to hear it got a bit easier! Good luck with your surgery!! :-) ( what's your favorite thing to have on the liquit diet?)

Homemade chicken broth with a squeeze of lemon, my mother makes it for me and I love it. I'm still struggling with the Protein Shakes, I've tried a bunch and I'm not a fan of any, I ordered the syntax fuzzy navel and chocolate truffle, should be getting them next week. Let's see how that goes. How about you?

OMG!!! I just went for my first consult and didn't know about this 10 day liquid diet thing! If I could do that on my own I could probably lose weight. I've never managed to stick to a diet for more than two days! How on Earth am I going to manage this! I need help! I was concerned about 24 hours of liquids before the EGD

You can do it! When you get to the point where you're facing surgery and a liquid diet is the only thing between you and your dreams then it doesn't seem SO bad. I don't think it will be easy, but its doable. You have a lot of people here for support as well! I've learned a lot of things from reading different discussions on this website! :-) Good luck to you sparksrn!

The not eating for 10 days is the part that has me the most afraid, but I guess as long as I can have liquids I'll be ok. Just gonna drink A LOT of liquids, Jello, etc. Thanks for the encouragement!

Truly the liquid diet has not been nearly as bad as I had expected. I made sure to drink "a meal" at least every 2.5 hours and no kore than two hours before Going to sleep. Also, remember that drinking warm things helps your tummy to feel more relaxed and less hungry. Hot chicken broth, tea, sugar free cider or sugar free cocoa can be HUGE life savers. Today is my 8th day on liquids and my only Clear Liquids day...today I am a bit hungry, but my sugar free cider helps because it is hot and has strong flavor.

I am scheduled for April 30. My doctor had a schedule change so we had to push things back a week. That means I will have been on the liquid diet for three weeks on my surgery date. It really hasn't been a problem although I do appreciate the low-sodium boullion as a change to the shakes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
