Hi Jamie, I am glad to be back. I was so involved that I needed a hiatus. Have traveled so much, enjoyed kayaking and boating. My husband has lost 100 lbs, and my struggle is a little harder, and I had regained 20 lbs. I wanted the motivation here from so many experts, plus we are having some Vitamin issues. I think the experts here have more knowledge than the medical community sometimes! I have lost ten lbs. already, gone back on shakes, and now exercising.

Awesome to hear you've "rebooted" your weight loss. It sounds like you have already been doing a good job of keeping active and enjoying life. But sometimes it is good to get in a little routine with food and exercise to course correct when needed. Glad to have you back!

I am a brand new member. I'm 39 and scheduled for gastric sleeve surgery November 8th. I'm self-pay, and am not going to a support group, so I am looking to make some connections with others who are going through this.

Welcome! I was self-pay in Mexico, so I did not have a local support group either. I found this site to be invaluable throughout the whole process. I hope it serves you well too! Definitely don't hesitate to chime in on threads or post questions.

Hi All! I've been posting on the open forum for about a month now. This forum has become my new obsession! I'm getting sleeved on 5 December. Right now I'm planning on going back to work in about a week. (I'm a gov analyst, it's not too physically strenuous!) I'm self pay since I was 32 BMI the past few years. Though weighing 190+ at 5'3 sucks. I'd lose about 20 pounds and put it right back on. I guess everyone here can relate to that.

In my spare time (hahahaha, what is that? I have teenagers...) I run a sewing business on the side. I'm probably too old to cosplay, but it doesn't stop me. I'm a shameless geek. I usually attend a few comicons all over the country (NYCC is my FAVORITE!). I own Jedi robes, a light saber, several wigs and lots of costumes. This year when I had to cut out the biggest size of a pattern and it didn't fit after I worked hours on the costume, I knew I had to do something. I don't want to be 200 pound Sailor Moon (if anyone remembers that episode of Big Bang Theory) , Princess Leia or whatever I want to Cosplay!

Heya, everyone! I've been getting so much out of this forum, I decided to pony up and become a VIP. :)

If there's anything you want to know about me and don't, just ask! LOL.

We have to liven this place up though, since I'm a year away from being able to post in the vet's forum!! :D

Hey all! Total bp newbie here I already love it, enough that I felt like signing up as a VIP was well worth it. My psych was the one who recommended it to me and then I saw another post about it on a WLS reddit...and here I am.

I'm 39, married to my best friend for 10 years now, mommy to the greatest little boy ever. I'm originally from IL/WI but we migrated south a few years ago to escape the snow :P We're geeky types...we were both in IT until I took leave to stay home with our son. I'm looking forward to returning to the working world once he starts kindergarten. In the meantime I've built a small part-time business selling my artwork, which is a great creative outlet for me.

I was banded 10 years ago and I'm working towards a revision to an RNY early next year (just waiting to hear back from the insurance company at this point). There's a lengthy story to go with how I ended up heavy in the first place, and my initial WLS journey....but that's what the 'my story' section is for so I won't go into it here.

Anyways, I hope to chit-chat with everyone around the forums, I'd post a picture but I haven't quite gotten the hang of where to upload my media yet....I'll find it eventually :D

*Edit* - hey look, by george I think she's got it!

Family4

Cheers!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
