I am so excited to hear this. I have an appointment next Monday with Dr. Weiner (an associate of the MOSS group). I'm not looking to have my surgery until around Christmas, but it's good to hear that the doctors and staff are well liked.

I had the small band, I think he said he put in 3cc, maybe 4. Dr. Laker did it, Kyle is no longer working there.

Well, it's looking like the 3 mL's didn't do too much (I work in a hospital too and it took me awhile to get used to saying "cc's" again! LOL!). I'm going to go in again next Thursday and get a little bit more put in. I'm not looking for major restriction, but a little bit would be nice. I want to lose 40 more pounds and I will be happy. Not just happy, thrilled!!!:whoo:

It's nice to hear that other patients like the group of doctors from MOSS. I went through BeLiteWeight.com and Dr. Gazayerli was assigned to me for my surgery. I read all of the their credentials and would have been happy with any of them. BUT...I am thrilled that I had Dr. Gazayerli perform my surgery. He is really a kind man. The OR staff had nice things to say about him as well.

I am curious to hear how AP band fills are working out for others.

I wonder if it's like saying soda or pop or soda pop, maybe what you say or how you have learned it is based on where you were taught? Dunno, just found the comments about cc's versus mL's interesting.

the change over from the wording cc to mL came several years ago, related to errors in medications ordered. The group that accredits hospitals suggested that to help avoid these errors a universal system would be best. While the "cc (cubic centimeter) and the "mL" (metric liter) are the same size, the abbreviations were casuing confusion. (Have you ever seeen a doctors handwriting, ugh!) So those of us that work in the medical field have had to get use to it. And having to use it at work makes it a hard habit to break.

I just got 3mL in my APL, I don't think it gave me any restriction. I have an appointment to go back on 09-15-07 for some more. Wonder if you are going to the support group meeting on that Saturday morning? Always nice to have a face with a name and messaging.

I used Dr. Scott Laker in Detroit and he is absolutely wonderful. He is extremely smart, caring, and very personable. I cannot imagine having chosen another doctor. Michigan Obesity Surgery Specialists - Experts in Gastric Bypass and LAP-BAND® procedures.

I'm going to Dr. Bhsania (spelling) in Port Huron, MI. He cam highly recommended from my primary physician.

Check out the Detroit Medical Center. I am to be banded on Tuesday (9-18-07) by Dr. Scott Laker. I found him by going through the BeLiteWeight group.

I've been in medicine for about 14 years now and was saying I had always used mL and cc interchangeably, didn't recall it being from a JCAHO (I'm assuming that's who you mean) edict but perhaps that's what it was. Perhaps it is like soda or pop or coke, it may also be regional or where you practice or were taught.

Isn't it interesting how things are different in different institutions?

Thanks- you just made me very confident about my decision. I'm coming from St.Louis (for the price-self pay & afraid of Mexico) and will always have to fly. No extra doctor fees 1st year? Thanks I'm so excited!!!

OK-So the Harper Hospital group is great...it's just the Belite group that lacks good followup?
