Happy Two Month Surgerversary to Me!

Recommended Posts

I celebrated my two month surgerversary this weekend and boy the difference from month one to month two is night and day. For all you newbies out there, hang in there, it gets better and better.

Month one you're still new and not feeling quite yourself. I have to be honest, I didn't feel "normal" until around week 6 or 7. I also had to get used to the new feeling of hunger. It's now like an uncomfortable feeling or sensation in my esophagus! I hate it but I'm getting more used to it every day.

I also had to train myself to stop eating at the first sign of fullness and let my brain catch up. Otherwise, I would become so frustrated because I would still be head hungry after my belly was full because that happens so fast now. Truth be told, I used start enjoying my lunch on the second sandwich so this is new for me! LOL

I'm also making sure to eat my Protein and drink my Water because in month one I had decided that I didn't like food you had to chew because it would make me really full so I decided I could eat a cup of Soup vs 1/2 cup of anything else. Well, that's not a good plan because soup has a lot of sodium in it and I noticed I was only losing one to no pounds a week! I got back to Proteins, found some that I like which took some work, and I began to drop the pounds.

I admit that I am just adjusting to my new life but I'm happy. Newbies, it takes some getting used to. Take it day by day, follow the rules, keep your carbs and processed food out of your diet and you will be where you dreamed you would be. You can add those things back in moderation after goal as treats if you need them. As for me, I am a potato chip and coffee lover. I now don't love coffee anymore but potato chips are still my enemy! I know, I've had them! The great thing is I was able to have a few, felt full and walked away without feeling guilty.

Today, I am 55 pounds down (I know, I need to update my stats) and I've gotten rid of all of my 2x and 3x clothing items. I'm wearing my 16 skirts and xl shirts and boy did I have fun closet shopping. I cried when I filled those two plastic bags with all my pretty plus sized work clothes because I knew I would never go back to that size again. Everyday someone asks me "how much weight have you lost" and I'm just thrilled to tell them. And this is just the beginning!

I'm ten pounds from my half way mark and I can't wait to see what the next two months hold for me.

Thank you to EVERY ONE OF YOU on this board for letting me come here on many occasions and cry, lament, complain. Thank you for always giving me encouragement and "tough love" and sending me back out into the fight. I can't express how important this board has been to me even though most times I "lurk". You're helping a lot more than one person when you post so thank you!

WOW...Congratulations to you. My 2 favourite things were coffee and Crisps too...I'm 8 days post Op and not liking the taste of coffee much at all, it's very strange when I think about how much I used to drink. ☕️☕️xx

Yes I was allowed coffee from Day 2. Is that different from you?

My NUT says Decaf coffee is allowed, but the caffein will irritate the stomach. FWIW.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
