OMG! Is THIS what the Green Zone feels like? AWESOME!

Recommended Posts

I got my third fill on Tuesday and as soon as I took the sip of Water, I could FEEL it! Restriction - glorious restriction! I had not felt that before unless I ate something starchy/bread. After fill, was not hungry the rest of the day. Yesterday, ate a small amount for Breakfast, not hungry until dinner and then very satisfied with a small amount. This morning, the scale finally MOVED down - 5 lbs from where I was the previous weigh (and i admit that's been several weeks as feeling down that I was so hungry after all of the surgery costs and discomfort, etc).

Now I feel I am IN THE GAME and I am so excited to know THIS is what it is supposed to feel like! I don't feel hungry! I feel full after a few small bites of Protein dense food. I am not ravenous and dreaming about junk food anymore. I AM HAPPY!!!!!

I wanted to share this with the rest of the community. I haven't been posting - I felt like I might be one of the folks for which this tool just doesn't change the underlying, overwhelming appetite issues I have had all of my life. But it IS changing that and I feel so hopeful - it's been so long since I've felt this way.

:-)))))))))))

That's great! Keep in mind it does fluctuate a bit, and some days/meals will be more or less restrictive. But yay!!! It's why we got the band and yes, it feels so good when it starts to help us!

And that's what it is all about!!!

Now you have to explore better foods, better ways to ensure your Protein...It's all about developing a new lifestyle!!

Since I eat so little, so less often, I try to make the best of what I eat...I have become a very picky eater...sure, you may try to have a slice of pizza (I can't BTW) but then you soon realize you're going to blow the portion the band will allow on something not very essential.

I look at Burger and pizza commercials on tv, and ask myself.... WHY! For what good reason..!(?)

This is why one of the "Rules" is to start with the Protein first before moving on to the rest on the plate...because you might not even get through the protein!!

My last fill was 3-1/2 years ago...and I feel just as great today as I did after my last fill...and I am still exploring newer, healthier foods, little tricks here and there......and lots of exercise...

From your description, wouldn't you say this is easy?? Sure, getting there was tough, but then finally...

A New Life!!! A New way of Living!!! (never have to diet again!)

Congratulations!!

Your post is very encouraging. I am in lap band he'll right now as I have had 1 fill and definitely not in the green. I can relate to the ravenous hunger and craving junk. It is such a mental game at this point of the process. Thanks for the motivation:)

I am so very happy for you!! :) :) I am counting down for my first fill on 3/25/15. I am starving all the time since my surgery on 2/26/15. It feels discouraging because I just feel bloated and swollen right now but still hungry. :( I really appreciate hearing you are in the GREEN zone! Keep up the great work!!

I am feeling GREAT! My appetite is pretty chill over all - and even when I do get hungry I only am able to tolerate a few bites of something - slowly - before I am done. I canceled my fill date today as I feel like I'm doing the GREEN so opted to walk through the park with my sheltie and enjoy my LIFE!!!

MaryRN66

Can you tell us how long it took to finally get to this green zone?

Before this Sweet Spot had finally arrived, any weightloss solely relies on our own dieting & exercising regimens......would U agree?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
