I was sleeved 12th, body is feeling weird. My stomach is a symphony of noises. It's weird. I don't think I am getting enough Protein in because I am weak most of the day after doing anything like taking care of my six year old.

I sleep a lot

I get my walking in

I still have terrible diarrhea that I have to take Immodium for everyday

I start purred foods monday. Hoping that helps with the energy level of getting more Proteins in

other than that I don't look like a person whose had surgery.

Can I get invited to the Facebook group as well?

Seems everyone's eating at different times and diffrent foods/broths/purred foods that their dr says is good.

WEird

i have to be on 10 days of Clear liquids only, 10 days of purred mushy food, 10 days of starting real tiny pieces of Protein food, week 4 starts all normal food.

Seems that all dr's should be on the same pge

my facebook

is kristen grant mcgill

I feel like that from time to time. One thing that helps is making sure you are getting calories in. Granted, we don't want a lot, but I made the mistake of not thinking about it and I fell into a shakey, heart racing state. So long as you are getting protein in, try to add things that may up, slightly, your calories. You may be just not getting enough for what you use for energy. Also, make sure to eat multiple times a day. My doctor said it should be 5 to 6 small meals. Meaning liquid meal if you are at that stage. When you get to puree, try some mashed bananas as a snack, Protein powder can be added to this or it can be added to a shake. I started puree stage just recently but I had a bad bought of nausea last night so I'm gonna be on liquids again today and maybe tomorrow.

Sleeved on February 5 feel great just don't like the stalls. Would like to see more weight loss. Getting close to loosing 50 seems like should see more eating 500 to 600 calories a day. Biggest problem is drinking enough Water.

I was sleeved on the 3rd and I'm down 17 lbs. I feel great, but Protein shakes/powders are not my friend! UGH!!! I hate even thinking about them! I drink them, but not without poor Sleevie Plunder objecting viscously!!!

Taste buds have changed a bit! I loved coffee before. Now it's all I can do to get a cup in the morning! I know a lot of people have this problem...tastes changing!!! Weird!!!

Good luck to everyone!!

I too was sleeved this month on the 11th and just joined here today. So far so good. It's interesting that everyone's doctor has them on different post op diets. My diet is supposed to be pureed-type foods for the first two weeks.

I had surgery this past Monday. Have been on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks. Did anyone have trouble switching to all liquids when they could? (Pudding, yogurt, cream of wheat, etc). I am really hoping I can handle some of that when its time. Today has been the worst day since my surgery. Gas pain and wanting food so bad!!!

I was never put on a clear liquid diet, just straight liquids at first. I have had issues with switching to puree though. Just take it slow, take a sip and let it sit. You will know soon if you can handle it. Don't push yourself though, just keep trying new things. Good luck!

I was sleeved on Feb. 3rd. I was told to do liquids for 2 weeks post-op, and now I'm on soft Proteins. I didn't have a pureed stage. I have been trying one new thing at a time and going very slowly. I was feeling extremely weak before I started my soft proteins and Vitamins. I still feel that way occasionally now, but it's getting better. I'm trying to learn all the new sounds and feelings my body has now. Sometimes when I eat something, the best way I can describe how I feel is to say I feel "weird."

Can you give me some examples of soft proteins?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
