self pay how long did you have to wait

Recommended Posts

Hello I am new, I will be a self pay. My appointment is for June 6th.

So I'm wondering how long has all the other self pay had to wait to have surgery. I know for insurance it takes some time.

I am so excited and can't wait.:nervous

Hi,

I went for my consultation last Tuesday, had medical tests on Friday, had to allow 2 weeks for pre-op diet and am scheduled for surgery on June 22. So it was about a month for me.

It can happen fast! I went for my preop appt on a Thursday, and had the surgery Tues. Only 4 days of the liquid diet. So, it really is going to depend more on your surgeons schedule, and how willing the staff is to pull it together. I wasn't expecting it that fast, but when they offered, I jumped at the chance.

I went to surgeons on April 5th, started two week pre op diet next day and had surgery the 19th of April. It all really depends on lots of factors. Good luck!!!

I heard that you just have to do the pre-op diet and then you are all set. It is taking me forever to get my insurance to approve...im also an impatient person...when i want something, I WANT IT NOW!!! Im verrrry excited! I think i may have found somethign that is gonna work. It seems too good to be true!

At my first visit with the surgeon he scheduled a date for a month from then. I had alreay started going to required classes. I finished those 2 weeks ago. I had my pre-op labs with my MD last Friday and will have surgery next Friday. It happens pretty quickly with self-pay. I didn't need to do any pre-op tests other than the labs.

I'm not, actually. I know that I am having this done to motivate me. And when I come out of that operating room, I am going to wake up with a different mindset. The $15,000 payment is a HUGE motivation.

I was self pay. My initial appointment was May 15 and I scheduled my surgery for May 30th. I could have gone right away, but they want you to go on a liquid diet for a week prior to surgery to lose 10 pounds to help shrink your liver. You will be on this for 2 weeks after surgery so you might as well get used to it before hand. I was glad there was no wait. I was in a hurry too. Good Luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
