Hi All. I got sleeved yesterday and today I dealing with a very red, flushed face and burning ears/skin. Did anyone else have this? I think I may remember the nurse saying she was giving me a steroid in my IV so that may be the culprit

Steroids could be the reason. I also get that when I take high doses of B-12. Just be sure it's not fever related, but since you're in the hospital I'm sure they are keeping tabs on your temperature around the clock. Good luck!

Are you still in the hospital? If so, ask your nurse, it could be an allergic reaction to something. I'm sure they are monitoring you, but if something concerns you, bug the nurses, that's what they are there for! :)

I am not still in the hospital. I'll take my temp and if it's not better by tomorrow, I'll call the doc

Had my sleeve on Monday. While in the hospital I had several episodes of being flushed though I was not aware of it until someone pointed it out to me. When they did, it was usually when I was super nauseated or in pain. BP and temp were fine so note real sure but yes, been there.

Okay, you mentioned the IV so I mistakenly thought you were still in the hospital. It wouldn't hurt to call in a question to your surgeons office. Take care!

My face and ears were flushed for 3 days after surgery. I get flushed though when I'm stressed or overtired.

I just had RNY gastric bypass two days ago and I am occasionally getting very very flushed red face. Seems to be after I drink things other than Water. My surgeon didn't seem concerned. This happen to anyone else?

I didn't get much of flushed face but I did retain a lot of Water from IV, in one week post and barely going down. It makes sense to me, they pushed iV because of pre op and post op and knowing I was not going to get in as much fluids and nutrients the first days post op, if you notice we gain a couple pounds post op but will be flushed out soon.

The vagus nerve can be agitated during surgery and cause the flush. My dr warned me that is happens 80% of the time between post-op days 2-4. Normal. He called it 'sleeve blush'.

Oh interesting. I assumed my face was flushed from the oxygen that was pumped up my nose during the surgery. I thought it made me look all fresh faced and rosy cheeked/rabid. This is why I am not a doctor.

Yeah sounds right. Mine stopped after day 4. Thanks for the info.

I always get fever when I have any surgery. Take your temp. If it's below 101 you should be fine but if it's higher call doc. Fever made me feel like death.

I had mine Wednesday and I was the same. There was kind of a gooey residue (prob from tape) on my face too. I think this made my skin angry. I'm a little better with the redness and burning since I got to shower today and wash it all off

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
