Ouch. (TMI)

Recommended Posts

You did not want to be me this weekend. I went to bed at midnight on Friday night. At 2 AM, I woke up and had a quarter-sized lump on my hoo-ha. Very painful, but tolerable. As the weekend went on, though, it grew. And grew. And grew. I could barely walk because of the pain and I was taking LOTS of Advil for the pain (didn't do much more than take the edge off of it). Of course, no one was open yesterday because of the holiday, but I was able to make an appointment to see my gynecologist this morning, luckily. She took a look at it and said that it was an ingrown hair, but that the pus-pocket thing was huge, about 2 1/2 inches. So, I got to have my crotch lanced this morning. And let me tell you, that damn lidocaine shot was the most painful thing I have EVER experienced. I am normally have a high tolerance for pain, but I was whimpering like a baby.

Ooooo, been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. That does hurt!!! I agree the worst pain is a lidocaine shot in an inflamed and sensitive area.

Did they pack it with packing?

Oh my, Lauren, you have my utmost sympathies! Yeeoowwyy!!

When I was about 20 I had inflamed hair follicles in my armpits that had to be lanced. Or it could have been something called hydroadenitis, I never did get a clear diagnosis. But the pain was extraordinary, and the lancing was done by a surgeon. It was indeed horrible. ;)

Same thing happened to my daughter. The doctor told her it was from shaving her bikini area. He suggested she use use Nair instead. He lanced hers, too. She said she'd seen smaller wounds that they stitched.

I've shaved my bikini line exactly once in my life - I'm not very hairy. In fact I only did it because I had a white bathing suit that year which was a bit see through, I shaved the whole lot off. And the exact same thing happened, and it bloody HURT.

The local anaesthetic does hurt more than the procedure doesnt it? I had one in the sole of my foot once (for a wart) and it was excruciating.

Owwww, I am hurting just thinking about what you went through. I hope that never happens again. Glad you are doing better now.

Nope, just gave me prescriptions for Keflex (the NP said that it was probably staph, but I couldn't have Bactrim because I am allergic to sulfa drugs), 800 mg Ibuprofen, and an antibiotic ointment, plus orders to do hot saltwater compresses four times a day.
Ohh, I'm so sorry. That must have hurt like crazy! Feeling better now?
You have no idea how much better! I can actually turn over at night without wanting to scream. And I can walk!

The bad thing is that I haven't shaved down there in ages, since I can't see without a mirror and I have horrible hand/eye coordination when it comes to shaving with mirrors. This thing just appeared literally within 3 hours. I went to bed with no pain and no evidence of a lump and woke up a couple hours later with the damn thing.

I am really worried about my surgery now. It would be just my luck, considering how everything else has gone, that my surgery would be postponed because I can't get rid of an infection caused by an ingrown hair.

Hopefully by the time your surgeon appt comes around you will have an "All clear". That would be a bummer to have surgery postponed for an infected hooha hair!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
