Hi Larry and welcome!

I personally have found the best prices to be at two places.

1. costco - I buy my Protein shakes (Premier Protein), my multi Vitamins, Biotin, Protein Bars. Because I buy in bulk the prices are excellent.

2. I purchase other high Protein products such as protein pancake mix, my favorite weight control oatmeal from Amazon.com

I have noticed my grocery bill has been cut by more than half! It really helps with the above!

Good luck with your surgery! I would recommend NOT stocking up on Protein Shakes or powder until you are post op. Your tastes change quite a bit and what you might like now may not be the case after.

Also many Protein Powder companies have samples that you can buy and try before you buy the big containers if you choose to go the powder route. You might do that so you have them available. I spent a fortune at GNC only to find out I did not like nor did my tummy tolerate the $100.00 I had just spent on their Protein Powder. I opened both flavors thinking one might be better than the other so I could not return them.

Try samples first post surgery, that would be my recommendation.

You can visit the Protein company's website, or go to http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html where you can buy individual samples with lots of choices. I haven't bought samples from them yet, so I can't tell you how their service is.

Hi Larry, my advice to you would be to not buy anything in bulk until after your surgery. Things that you liked before surgery, including Vitamins and shakes, you may no longer tolerate or like anymore after surgery. This is how it was for me. I went to Sam's Club and bought everything in bulk prior to surgery and was enjoying everything, but after surgery all the vitamins and shakes I had bought made me nauseous. I ended up giving everything away. I would suggest buying a regular size bottle at the drugstore or Walmart, and seeing how that goes after surgery. If you tolerate everything well, then by all means buying bulk because it will save you money in the long run.

Your tastes change after surgery? Well, then, the sample thing is a great idea! Thank you.

My tastes certainly did.

I was loving blueberry and chocolate shakes before surgery. After couldn't tolerate anything but straight vanilla.

Also hate bacon now. Go figure

I would suggest you get the sample package from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury.com

It's $21 or so and comes with unflavored, chocolate etc

I used the unflavored post surgery to make my Jello and Jello puddings

I package was enough for 2-3 weeks worth.

Then the other samples I made shakes.

I also bought a nutribullet and use fruits and veggies to make shakes

I occasionally add a scoop of Protein but rarely. Mostly I used greek yogurt in there

If you use Protein it tends to foam up so let it sit for a bit and let it go down

I haven't used any Protein Shakes since july4

My surgery was june 24

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
