Sick of feel starved...starting to regret this surgery.

Recommended Posts

Alexandra....Please do not be so down on yourself. You/we do not have a great relationship with food or we would not be here. I/we would have done the same thing. Do not feel bad, you are such an inspiration to all of us.

Keep your chin up, think of all the people you have helped since your journey started!!

Take Care,

Maureen

Dang I know how you feel! I'm starvin' like Marvin'. When I had the surgery I was told I wouldn't feel hungry, but I did. After my 1st fill, I was told I wouldn't be hungry, and I was. I had my 2nd fill last week and it's a *little* better since I physically can't eat much. I complained to my dr and they recommended me for counseling. I'm a little pissed off about that becasue I already know 1. Yes i'm fat i eat too dang much that's why i had to have the freakin surgery in the 1st place and 2. I think they are making the whole thing up about "you shouldn't be hungry".

I've found it does help to keep my stomach full of something like liquids or Water but mostly all this does is satiate me for a little bit then I have to go pee. I keep protien bars arond and nibble on those throughout the day.

The protien thing doesn't really work for me either. They swear if I get my 60 grams of protien daily (which I do) I shouldn't be hungry. I think it's a bunch of crap.

They are also telling me that my stomach growling is not because I'm hungry. Yeah right. After the band, my stomach growling causes me discomfort to the point where i need to eat something and right then !

I will say, through it all, this 2nd fill is workign a lot better than my first. Don't let yourself go too long on an empty stomach, other wise you will regret it and probably eat more than you should. My stategy is not to over-eat, but to keep myself from being hungry, which works for me.

I hope this helps and doesn't frustrate you further, but I feel like there has to be more people who feel like me and you. I really think the more you get filled, the easier it will get. so hang in there.

Just checking in. How is it going? My hunger is gone but now I do not want to put anything in because now there is no pain. One sip of a shake and it hurts for a couple of minutes. Today I have had a few sips of a shake and not much Water. Seems like I am doing exactly what they said not to!

Enough about me, please let me know how you are?

Maureen

Yes, I would like to know what caused it. I am nervous because I was abnded 3 weeks ago and am felling great, but do not have a lot of restriction and am worried that something is not right. I have not had a fill yest though.

I am feeling so hungry also! I dont know what to do. I keep eating little bits every 2 hours, but after the liquid phase they say not to do that. So what's up? My stomach growls fiercely!

It's going ok with me for now. I really hate that hungry feeling though, but I deal with it and keep drinking.

So sorry you are having pain when you sip a shake. How thick is the shake? It shouldn't hurt drinking anything unless it is too thick or chunky, which I am sure is not the case in your situation. I would call your doctor, because I have been having creamy Soups, liquid yogurt and the shakes since 6 days post-op and no problems so far. I admit I jumped the gun, but never had a problem and I really am glad.

Take care and keep in touch my band sis across the country. ;)

Peace,

Judy

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
