January Sleevers ❄️

Recommended Posts

BTW I slept awesome last night I did not realize how much I missed my bed from the horrible comforts of the hospital torture device they call a bed. I wake up and weigh myself everyday and I'm sooo happy I did this. I have no regrets. I'm glad I can just say this in good terms we are all LOSERS!

I haven't had any issue getting Fluid in since waking from surgery. Dr Ortiz does a tight sleeve so I think it just varies from body to body. A week out and the fluids go down great! I just have to get into the habit of sipping every 15min! Getting more and more in each day and seeing the weight come off as a result! I'm so thrilled for us all to be PAST surgery, LOSING and learning our new lives! :)

I haven't had any cramping the past 2 days in my right oblique. Thank goodness cause that was torture! I figured it was a pinched nerve in my back. I woke from surgery with some serious back pain. May have been from the gas or because I woke up hunched over. Idk. Now I'm having some stinging pain in my largest incision. Anyone else having a stall doing #2 because of liquids? Been over 2 weeks for me.

Hey Zzzombrie! It's felicia from OCC, I finally went after having some Decaf coffee the other day, then I was at the toilet a million times after that! How are you doing? Are you losing? I've lost 10lbs since surgery.

My doctor said not to worry about not going #2 since I was on a liquid diet 2 weeks before the surgery and the few days after the surgery I didn't drink or eat much. She did say that it was okay to get a stool softener but not a laxative. Good luck to you.

Ms. Cortez...

I know this is kind of off topic, but I was setting up my tickers today and did my weigh one just fine, but twice I tried to set up the surgery countdown one, and both times it kept giving me some sort of error about goal values...I don't have a goal for when my surgery was done and the values that were there were preset. Any advice on setting one up?

Hi everyone! Great to see you on the other side! I have no stats updates, but am happy to report that everything went well on 1/14 and I'm home resting now. And feeling MUCH better at home where it's easy to get out of chairs and couches, ha!

Water isn't going down so well so I'm sticking with sugar-free Vitamin water and Protein Shakes. My surgeon says I can have Tomato Soup made with milk, hooray! I'll wait till tomorrow though...I just had a pretty unpleasant heaving spell after taking my Tylenol with codeine.

Hang in there, everyone! It gets better every day. Right??

I'm post op four days now and I'm starting to feel hunger pains despite being on a liquid diet still. I've been told I have two more weeks of this and then I can go on to puree once I have my follow up visit. This is driving me insane because I feel if I eat something I'll feel better in the tummy. SIGH!!!!!

Hi January Sleevers! Got my GSL on Thursday Jan 8th, came home on Friday Jan 9th. Did really well post-op at surgery center but have struggled with pain since I got home. I realize the gas situation takes time but can't seem to get comfortable to sleep where when I get up I'm not straining my stomach muscles. Tried my bed and my LazyBoy loveseat recliner + finally decided on loveseat. I know I just need to be patient + it will get better each day, but ugh. Hope everyone else is doing well!

@@Ready_For_Me_13 Did you have a hietal hernia. My doctor told me that patients who experience this tend to confuse the growling feels and empty stomach feeling with hunger when really is a side effect of the hernia. I got some medication from the doctor that I have to take once a day for a month to ease that feeling. Only a thought and remember you probably aren't really hungry but getting dehydrated as well. trying in taking more fluids and if that is not easing the problem just call your doctor and see what they recommend. I know I have head hunger case I'm bored with the same flavors rolling through my mouth. Good luck to you!

I had to stay an extra day at the hospital because I started to get bad gas pains and for some reason my nurse gave me a tiny bit of Maalox to drink with a little bit of Water I ended up throwing it all up. I still feel really sore and after walking up and down the hospital hallways I feel better and should be really going home later today

I'm very glad to be home. No problems taking liquid meds, Water mixed with power aid zero ( I couldn't handle the Powerade full strength) popscicles. I did get nauseous lady night waiting on my scripts to get filled, so I rolled down the window for fresh air and that made the nausea go away. Thank goodness cuz I'm so scared of throwing up. Anyway I'm so thankful that everything is going so well. Praise the Lord!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
