I'm hoping I can get that last pound off before the end of the month. I would like a grand total of 30lbs. It just seems like a nice round number. I think the worst part of everything is the sipping of drinks and what not. I want to be about to just have a drink. I feel like I'm thirsty or my mouth is dry and the sipping is just not doing it for me, Kinda annoying but I guess a minor hiccup in my journey. another thing I find odd is I know I had a hiatel hernia and it was repaired but then to have never experienced heartburn expect when I eat garlic bread to experiencing it everyday is kinda a bummer too.

My surgery was 1.5 ad's I'm at a stall too...sounds like we're all feeling the same thing....trying to stay focused...but the cravings are seeing in. I'm sure the stall is aggravating, therefore frustrating ....cravings begin.

I was sleeved 1/5 and had my first follow up with surgeon on 1/21. I am down 22 lbs!

I don't have a scale at home so will not weigh again until I see him next month.

I will be starting soft/puree foods, Monday ,when I will be three weeks out. I am so looking forward to anything other than the mashed potato, cream based Soup and yogurt that I am currently eating along with my Protein shake.

Still not meeting my protein/fluid requirements but it's getting easier everyday.

Well I lost my 30lbs. Now if the swelling in my stomach will just go down so I can squeeze into my jeans that would be awesome. I'm not having really any head hunger but I do miss chewing. Wish there was something I could take for it. I'm not allowed yet to chew ice. Last night I was so thirsty it was so hard for me to sleep I kept getting up to sip my Water. I know they say if you are thirsty then you are already dehydrated which is weird since I drink my water allllll day long.

Hi all, I was sleeved on Monday 1/19. It has taken me a few days to feel better, when I came home I was in a lot of pain from the gas and IV Fluid. I made my husband hide the scale because I know I'm still bloated. I'm on a liquid diet for 2 more weeks. I can only get about 48 oz of liquid in at this point. Just made a big pot of chicken Soup and vegetable stock so hopefully that will help as I cannot tolerate Water :( I've been reading this forum for the past few months whiled I prepared for my surgery and have learned so much. Excited to be a part of the January group!

Hi my name is Lisa and I'm a food addict. I'm at the pureed stage and I must be honest. I've gone rogue. I had 2 cherry tomatoes and a piece of lettuce. I'm really trying to adhere to these stages but I just want to chew. Thankfully it all went down smooth. I just want to eat normal food already.

LOL--can you imagine any other circumstance in which 2 cherry tomatoes = "went rogue"?? So funny. As long as it went down well, I wouldn't sweat it. I mean, I wouldn't go after more, just because I'd think raw veggies are harder on the stomach. But I think as far as "going rogue" goes, you did it pretty safely. ;)

Whatever you do, don't go posting this on that "other" WLS forum...O.H....they were about to tar and feather someone the other day for daring to eat an inch of a veggie sub 5 weeks out. Morons.

Lol. I'm still on full liquids. I had 2 mini stewed carrots that I chewed for like five minutes each and I didn't exactly strain my creme of chicken Soup. But I agree u might want to stay away from the raw veggies (and sweets) U will learn quickly if your belly didn't like something and we don't want to begin grazing again or putting not so healthy stuff in our new bellies. I just want an egg already!! Good luck!

I'm still on full liquids and I am definitely struggling with finding that "full" point. I had some pretty unpleasant barfing going on last night because I misread the stomach-grumblings as regular, sleeved stomach grumblings and not "OMG I AM FULL STOP!" rumblings. Funny to not be able to fit in even a 1/4 cup of Tomato soup! Ahh well, it's a learning process.

I think all of us on the liquid stage are experiencing the I need to chew something experience. Its so frustrating. I know eventually we all will be able to eat some solid food but it is really hard. I'm whining about it but honestly I don't really care what is two more weeks when I've lost almost 20lbs in two weeks? I couldn't lose 20lbs in a month before if I tried. I'm feeling great and I def don't miss solid food that much. Good luck to all you and stay strong this is the part that really test or strength and dedication to our new way of life!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
