I am 4 days post-op

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am 4 days post op. Each day is better than the previous. But today my large incision on top right has been more sore. I also have been feeling dizzy and very weak. I have been drinking Water (which is difficult to drink, i don't know why) chicken broth, green tea no sugar, skim milk, and coconut water.

I feel what have I got myself into.

I resent my children eating around me and going out to eat. There are times during the day I wish I would be eating something but I do not.

I need to work past those feelings.

Are you taking Multivitamins or supplements? Are you doing any walking or exercising? Believe it or not I have more energy when I work out.

Greetings,

Don't worry-- when this surgery is done there is quite a bt swelling after so it is really difficult to get in all the liquid needed. Have you been taking in any Protein? You may want to start taking some Protein shakes, even if the quantity is small. The incisional pain is normal. If your incision gets red, warm, starts oozing, etc. then you want to call the doctor. Otherwise it will get better with time.

Good luck!

I am 7 days post op & get what you are saying. It is especially hard around the holidays. What helps me when my kids are eating stuff in my presence: sip on a Protein shake or eat some Protein enriched pudding, or a delicious flavor of Greek yogurt (banana cream). This is what I did in the movie theater yesterday and it totally helped.

It also helps to get out of the house and walk multiple times a day, but especially when you are feeling a little down. The cool air hits, adrenaline kicks in a bit, and before you know it, you just feel better. Hang in there!

Yes...hang in there! The holidays will be over by the weekend. Just know you've done the best thing for yourself and next year at this time, you will have a whole new anniversary and number to celebrate! You WILL be able to eat all the foods you like, but your sleeve will prevent you from eating too much...or even close to what you think you might have liked in the past! Your children are your children, as you once were...you are also helping them to see a healthy future by setting a new example of healthy eating...take care...get through this week....you'll be OK! I feel your pain, believe me. All of us who have been sleeved recently relate to what you are going through this week...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
