Day 6 Post-op ...Gosh I hope today is better

Recommended Posts

The days are getting better, but, I'm working up my pace to get all

My fluids in plus muscle down 2 Protein Shakes. But I'd like to try something more on my phase two diet. I'm just afraid it will fill me up and I won't be able to get my fluids in :(

Any advice?

You are 6 days. Be patient with yourself. My doctor only allowed me Water and clear broth, for the first 10 days. I was only getting about 40 ozs of clear fluids in and it took me every waking hour. Of course follow your doctor's orders, but be patient with your progress and recovery. Best.

Do the best that you can with your fluids and Protein. Chances are you won't be able to hit your goals yet and that is ok. It took me until about 2 weeks post op to hit my Fluid intake goals and another week to hit the protein goals. The first couple of weeks are about healing and recovering. You will be able to get more fluid and more protein in every day and it does get better . Give yourself some time. You are doing great and keep up the good work!

Agree with both posters above me! Focus on healing and take in what you can for both clear fluids and Protein. I'm at 5 weeks post-op and still struggling to get all my fluids in. I don't know why; never had a problem before with drinking Water. I set a mini goal for myself every day. So far, so good. Soon I will be up to 60 oz of fluids a day.

I'd just say start really slow. My surgeon's office has this ridiculous sample phase 2 meal plan that shows 3 shakes and 3 meals (up to about 7 tablespoons).

I started phase 2 this weekend, and couldn't get more than 2 tablespoons in the whole day - but I met goal for liquids AND Protein for the first time! It's like not being on all shakes and broth made me suddenly stop feeling like a patient. If you're ready to move up, just try a little at a time and play it by ear.

Good luck!

Can I butt into the conversation and ask.... In your opinion, if I have surgery on a Monday (and assuming all goes well), and am scheduled to attend a conference on that Friday - is it realistic I'll be healthy enough for 8 hours of non-lifting, sitting for 45 minute sessions, standing and networking kinds of activities?

I am truly struggling to find a date in between events I have from now through March - don't want to overdue it.

@@livanneluv - from my surgery experience, which went A-OK, I felt like I was hit by a truck for a week. I think your timeline- you will be pushing it and regretting going to that conference. I was 2 days in the hospital plus I slept for 2 days once I got home. I didn't feel like myself again until a week to 10 days after surgery.

Thank you JenWith! I hate the idea of taking too much time off work, but of course want my body to heal properly.

Good luck with your continued weight loss! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
