i am having my surgery on January 26... only 4 days away.. my pre-op started off tough but am now used to the low fat cooking and shakes.. i have really learned a lot about my body these past two weeks... I actually feel great from doing this two week cleanse in preparation for the surgery and my new life style .. I feel strong and my hunger and sugar withdrawals have subsided .. one thing i have noticed is that I am not weezing so i wonder what foods I could have been eating that exacerbating my condition.. I am not a smoker or heavy drinker at all.. that is a plus.. Nervous and excited at the same time.. I am sure I will be successful with the support of my family ... I haven't been going to they gym in fear that i could catch the flu.. and don't want to chance it.. Have my eyes on the prize.. getting close to the finish line..

Surgery on the 28th.....having bypass. Start my pre op liquid only diet Friday. I'm probably just gonna start it early... like tomorrow.

Went overboard the last 2 days with last meal eating. I did so good for 8 months and now I'm blowing it on stupid yucky food. I feel crappy. It was all emotional, I know. I haven't craved anything or been really hungry in months. So why overeat now? Of all times?

I Went from being over the moon excited to very nervous about surgical complications and post opp issues.

I know it's normal but what are the odds? So many people I know have lifetime complications and pain even several years afterwards.

This too shall pass. I'm just scared. But I'll get over it. My future is worth it.

Hey, I discovered a tip for getting Water down. It seemed like no matter the size swallow, even drinking I always had this choking sensation at the bottom of my esophagus/chest/throat.....hot tea! For some reason the heat relaxes those vessels. I was able to sip a full cup of tea without feeling like I was dying....

  • MisforMimi That's great! I love hot tea, it's been my drink of choice for 20+ years (not a coffee person). I was worried I wouln't be able to tolerate it afterwards. hopefully I'll be like you!! although I'm told that hot or cold beverages arent good for a new stomach. so more like lukewarm???

Not piping hot, I let it steep and it was decidedly warmer than cool. I'm not drinking anything lukewarm or tepid.

Try not to think about it so much... if anything.. it is to prevent further issues down the line to make sure that you have no leakage... in a month from now this will all be gone and you will start to live the life that you have been wanting for a long time... Good luck and keep me posted!!!

I have to do a 4 week pre op liquid diet! Yep four weeks..its been ok..as hunger means its working..but I have slipped but not with anything bad...one evening i felt so sick ..my hunger on 2nd week was enduring so i have small portion of plain porridge..nothing else....and i slept so well. Although i slipped off the diet it was a glitch...but i didnt go mad and eat fatty foods etc. The next day i cut back by drinking 1%milk instead of 2%...to balance it up. I still lost 10lbs in 2 weeks. My op is next week...I just keep focusing that 5 more days wont hurt..i just keep distracted...ive cleared out old clothes...its just the evenings when my stomach moans at me...i just keep Water nearby! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL! My op is on 28th too!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
