5 months out- going to do a 3-5 day shake fast-any advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi all- I am about 5 months out now, doing great, but the scale has really slowed.

I've been told this is normal, but my 'honeymoon period' is coming to an end, and i still have about 25 lbs to lose until goal.

After reading a lot online, I decided to try a shake/broth/yogurt type fast for at least a few days. Something similar to my pre-op diet. I am wondering if that will get the scale moving again?

Any advice?

Give it a shot but I would say be careful that you make your shakes etc. low cal. A lot of people start adding things in like bananas, Peanut Butter, cocoa powder, and that is not conducive to weight loss! But I know a lot of people who have done this sort of thing as a kick start and had it work really well if they watch their calories carefully.

If it doesn't work for you, try a different kind of kick start - solid food but very high Protein and very limited. Like only baked chicken breast and broccoli for three days. You'd probably take in lower calories and carbs that way.

Good luck!

Change and increase the intensity of your exercise regime' and analyze your caloric and Water intake. If it's too low, carb and sodium laden, and too low in fat, those things alone can account for slowed weight loss.

thanks everyone, i will definitely take this all into consideration. for ME, my shakes are just shake powder, and milk and ice. pretty easy.

i will try this for a couple days then maybe switch to the solid protein/veg plan for a few days.

i am also hitting the gym tonight and going to change it up there completely too.

thanks!

Congratulations on all your success so far! Let us know if the shakes increase your weight-loss. I may try that in the near future!

I'm glad to find this thread. I have been considering doing a liquid diet and wondered if this would be safe. I will definitely be doing a 3 day liquid diet within the nest week or so.

Down 72lbs, 70 more to go. Need a boost!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
