Week 2 Post OP Band To Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I joined this website when I got my lap band many moons ago, and just over a week ago I got my band to sleeve revision. Thank gosh that blasted band is gone! I hated it and it never worked for me, slipped right after surgery and since I had it done in Mexico, my PCP wouldn't touch it. Anyhow, I am just so thankful I was able to get sleeved without having to wait between surgeries.

I have been on liquids and just started on creamy Soups, Tomato and cheese. Trying to get in my Protein through Protein shakes, but I think I am coming up a little short. Doing fairly well with Water intake. I guess the only complaint I have is I have had diarrhea since the surgery. I am thinking it is the antibiotic I am on, so only two more days and I'm done with them. Had my surgery with Dr. Almanza in TJ.

Energy level is a little low and sometimes at work if things get stressful I actually get pretty shaky, so I have taken to having two small squares of dark chocolate just to give me a little energy boost to get me through those shaky times. Other than that I am sticking to the diet fairly well.

Hope anyone considering dumping the band does it...those bands are bad news, and who wants a foreign object in their bodies!

Having the surgery in 3 weeks. I lost with the band when it was tight but there was only a wee but of difference between too tight and loose. It was a mess. :/.

Hoping for the best.

Hi i also went from band to sleeve and i am so relieved.Though i know the band works for many but i had trouble from the start i either had no restriction or extreme vomiting and in the end i could not get it removed. The sleeve seems to be pretty trouble free so far and not having to go for fills suits me much better good luck.pippinleicester.

This stuff!!

The thing that confuses me is that there seems to be many different waiting periods between the Lap Band Out And the Sleeve.

The common time is 3 months and that is how long I have to wait.

I did not have one moment of trouble with my Lap Band in 8 years. Got to my goal weight, but everything went to Poo when I went into Menopause.

Instead of a couple of squares of chocolate a day (if that) I was soon up to 300g a day along with plenty of other food.

YES I know I can suck that chockie down with the sleeve but I am just now starting with a new wonderful holistic womens Dr who specialises is Biodentical Hormnes. (I discovered that it was my lack of hormones that set off the sweet craving and other nasties).

Back to my question. I would love to get my Sleeve earlier than the 3 months. I am going to discuss getting it in Feb Instead of March.

I Amman one week post op band to sleeve revision. I'm so glad I found this forum. I know that I failed the band and it failed me. But I am determined to reach goal this time. I was worried about having everything done at once but I'm glad I did. I actually feel pretty good, just tired.

Congrats on being one week post op! I am having a band to sleeve revision on the 29th of January and am so nervous. Do you have any words of advice? Anything you would recommend? Anything I should pack or have on hand for after the surgery?

Jennifer

The 2 things I needed were gasp and Gatorade! Since surgery Water has a weird metallic taste so I drink g2 to stay hydrated. The doctor said it should go away in a few weeks

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
