Wtloss reacted to maegan in People Noticed!I am a school teacher and just started my new year. I had surgery 6/14 and am down 32 lbs. I was happy that a couple people at work noticed and said positive things about it! It always helps when I am feeling a little down or feel like I should have tried harder to lose more faster.

Wtloss got a reaction from Bailey Jan in Peanut Butter Power BallsI found this recipe in the United Airlines Magazine
Peanut Butter Power Balls
3 parts creamy peanut butter
4 parts in fat dry milk
1 part pure honey ( or agave nectar ). I used sugar free flavoring syrup instead. I had the Carmel on hand. Just added enough to barely moisten so I could make balls.
1. Sprinkle dry milk into peanut butter and mix. Add honey or syrup
2. Shape into bite size balls on dinner plate; place in freezer for at least 15 minutes
3. Enjoy, feel the power of healthy energy.
I used 1 tablespoon as my one part. So 3 tablespoons peanut butter, 4 tablespoons dry milk.
It would be dangerous to make too many!
Be careful they can be addictive!

Wtloss got a reaction from DeAna N in 5 Days Into My New Life!Sorry I accidentally hit the send buttom.
I had surgery 5 wks ago and love my fitness pal program. I downloaded it to my phone and IPad and I have learned what to eat and to stay within my calories. I log my meals and exercise and it has been a real eye opener.
What saved me in the early stages was having the sugar free pudding, Jello and popsicles on hand. If you're hungry have another Protein drink. I was starving and was mad as well when others were eating. My husband eats everything and has never had a wt problem! My doctor told me to have an extra Protein shake if I am hungry. Once you add food you hunger gets better, but this stage requires more preparing. I think I finally have it done after 5 weeks.
Hang in there wearing clothing I haven't worn in years is way better than any food I have put in my mouth!
Get up each day determined to make this work. You will have a better quality of life and you are teaching your children how to have a healthy lifestyle.
Good luck

I beleive it has helped my hunger tremendously. I am not so hungry and when I eat I dont feel like I am in a panic. I eat slower and easily turn the rest away. This has never happened for me. It does take 3 - 5 fills to get to that point so the beginning is difficult and requires patiences.
I dont have to think about dieting as much and the daily obsession and thoughts are gone. I use to wake up telling myself today I would eat good. Then I would be hunry and eat a Breakfast taco at 9ish and feel like I was failing so then I would eat a big lunch and by the end of the day I had totally messed up. Now I eat less and at the end of the day, if I think about my meals, I am suprised how little I ate. The first 6 weeks I logged everything I ate but now that I am in the green zone, I havent logged as much b/c my meals are where they need to be and I am not snacking.
I love my band so much. I am scared of future complications with the band. But I hope it just doesnt happen. Most complications are induced by patient non-complaince with the rules. Other surgeries dont require such dedication to rules and the fill process is not needed. However, they alter you anatomy forever. I am happy that all of my body parts function just as they did before. I just eat less, am hungry less, and I eat slower.
Hope that helps.

Wtloss reacted to Short and Chunky in New Girl On The BlogRelax proverbdoll and snielsen..it will happpen. I am 1 yr post op. You loose a bunch then nothing and then it repeats itself. Just keep on doing the right things - eating right, drinking lots of Water and walking (or whatever exercise is your thing). My last "dry spell" lasted almost 4 months with NOTHING. then poof - down 9.5 in 3 weeks- without changing a thing. You didn't gain it all overnight and it is doing to leave overnight. Stay patient and positive (that really does help). I am down 104 with 40+ to go so I am still in the working hard stage. Hope you both are feeling great.

Wtloss reacted to fericito in New Girl On The BlogI'm a few weeks post op and my dr. told me definitely NOT to expect any weight loss right now - he called this the healing part of the diet/band. He said it will come soon enough and that after we get into the green zone is when we'll really hit it. Try not to feel too discouraged - this isn't a sprint, it's a lifelong race but we can do it. YOU can do it. Hang in there and it will come.

Wtloss got a reaction from lassie in Ideas For Food On Long Flight. You can buy yogurt at the airport. If you take string cheese it can't stay out longer than two hours. Take an insulate lunch bag. Also the protein powder. GNC sells a nice small bottle for mixing your protein. I like hummus you can get the small single sizes to take with you or purchase on the plane. Roll up lunch meat with cheese inside.
Safe travels

Wtloss reacted to daisychains7 in EmotionalDon't worry, you're normal. It's scary learning how to live without food as an emotional crutch. I was a mess right before and after surgery. I cried, but mostly I was frustrated, depressed and irritable over every little thing. All I could think about was what I was giving up by living the bandster lifestyle. Finally, about 2 months out I am starting to feel like myself again. I still have rough days but its a lot better. I pray, ask friends for help, and exercise when I feel bad.

Wtloss reacted to ChattyMommy30 in EmotionalI definitely went though that! I thought for sure that I was the only one, but I did what you did and posted here. This forum is amazing!
I had my surgery on 6/26 and it was about day 4 that it hit me like a ton of bricks.
My issue was me coming to terms that I have a food addiction and it hit me that I was saying goodbye to that part of my life.
You're doing the best thing though, you're talking about it with people who understand. You don't have to go through it alone, we're all in this together. Posting and reading here helped me the most, and I'm also reading a few books about food addiction. I'm still sad, but the support here tells me I CAN do this, and so can YOU!
Shed your tears if you need to, this is tough, but don't give up, and take comfort that we are all here for each other.
