Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I just found out my surgery will be in July (granted my pre-op testing goes okay) SOOOOOOOOO

Here's a thread for everyone getting banded in July 07!

Does anyone have any good ideas for a neat name we could call ourselves?

Ok guys,

I may ramble here...I am getting nervous. Happy but nervous. I can't believe surgery is 6 days away:eek: Yikes!

Last night @ support group one of the guys who has had the band for I believe 1.5 years (lost over 125lbs.) showed us FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and how it worked. It's free online or you can download it for $29.95. Well I downloaded it onto my laptop as I figured when I am away this summer and will have limited internet access I should have it on my laptop. I started using it today. It is really cool. You guys should check it out. I put in all my beginning stats. Weight, measurements, etc. It is very user friendly and gives graphs and pie charts. I am a visual learner so this greatly helps. You can really see you food intake and calories! He said once you have it down it takes only a few minutes a day to put your info in. He has lost 11lbs. in the last month since using it.

ANYWAY - My surgeon did not require that I go on a liquid diet before surgery but told me not to gain. After group last night I decided to at least start now so I get an idea of what I like. I had a protein drink for breakfast and lunch and dinner is cooking now and I can't wait for some food :hungry: Eating the way I did today somehow made if feel more REAL.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. The only thing that could get in my way of surgery is this bloomin' cold I have.:sick I have been doing everything within MY power to get rid of it swiftly. It's up to God whether Tuesday will be my day or not. I sure hope it is but I am trying not to stress (OK I AM) too much about it.

ABOUT PROTEIN - I read the same thing sunshine did about the 25 grams. Somewhere on the site. I will search for the message.

It's getting close. I can imagine how you must be feeling. A whirlwind of emotions right now...excited, nervous, scared. We are praying that flippin cold goes away...in the name of Jesus!

I'm sure you will do very well. :biggrin1:

:( Hello all.... thanks for the warm welcome...

Dini... great job on the calandar !!! love it !!!!!

Best wishes to breadlady......peeling ahead of the crowd.... :smellie:

Tomorrow I have a day full of tests.

8AM UGI test

9:45 Meeting with Nutritionist

11:30 Meeting with Psychologist

3:00 Appointment with my thyroid Dr.

Somewhere in between my appointments I have to get an EKG. Luckily all my appointments are within 3 or 4 blocks of each other.

Today after work a co-worker and I went to Curves to check it out. She had a heart attack in March and needs to exercise. We've been walking together at work 20 minutes a day but both want to do more. I'm going to join on my next paycheck. It's cool how they have a form for your doctor to sign that says you can't exercise for so many days after an illness or surgery. They put your membership on hold during that time and you don't get charged membership during that period. I want to work out before the surgery because I hear it helps.

The only bad thing is I left all my paperwork at work and have to go there before my 1st appointment and pick it up.

I went to the bank today and had 2 cashier checks made: one to the hospital and the other to the doctor. I'm paying the anesthesiologist on Friday and then my surgery is all paid for and I'm ready for the 18th of July!

Dini - thanks for the calendar...the list was taxing on my and I'm sure on Chimboree! I have a friend in Fairbanks (Alaska) who uses vitalady.com...I think they're out of California, but they are very helpful and if they can't send stuff to you, I'm sure they could recommend someone! Good luck with that.

Bobberts_mom - I can feel for you with nightmareish hospital moments...I have a degree in Health Care Administration and I live in bush Alaska...oh, boy, there's things in need of changin'! My son got attacked by a pit bull last month...we ran to the hospital (there's only one joint with docs here), this being our first encounter in this town, I went straight to the "Emergency Room" to find....NOTHING...yep, that's right! We ended up at the clinic and had about 5 trainees, PA's, Docs see us before he was stitched and bandaged up. It's Indian Health Care...Alaska is quite equipped when it comes to IHC, nothing like you hear about on reservations, but still....inadequate for the price you're paying (and most of the time the billers can't figure out what to charge!) Just gotta laugh about it. Stay informed, read their "Patient's Bill of Rights"....prepare for the worst, hope for the best!

Mike - decided on the band for a very simple reason...I have a friend that had the bypass and she farts all the time...really, that's it...of course there's the underlying reasons of: don't want to re-do the plumbing, recovery time, cost, risk, not eating LOTS of reg. foods, malnutrition, etc., but the farting is what has stuck with me for 6 years!

Man, I had to read three pages of posts...I feel like I haven't been on in quite some time. New people too! Welcome!
