Hey Gang!!!

IndioGirl - AWESOME!!!! You are doing great. 13 miles!?!?! :omg: You are rockin and rollin.

Lynette - Isn't that s'thing. One minute, they say he needs to work on motor skills, but the next minute, they say he's fine. Go figure. And how cool is it that he's so advanced that he's gonna be helping the other kids out socially?!?! That is wonderful!!!

All - I had my 2nd post op. Guess who has lost a total of 17lbs??? In less than a month!?!? :) How awesome is that? I am so proud of myself right now. I am now on solids and just thrilled about that. I had a chix caesar salad from Olive Garden. It was great. I still have a ton of it left for dinner tonight.

Only, I was very scared to try salad the first time - I ate the tinest bites and chewed until it just disappeared! I figured out that they work for me and have eaten them since (although maybe I shouldn't yet, they can't truely me mushie).

Lynette, I'm so glad the school thing is working out for you and Hunter.

Indigo - your walking is amazing! I work out for the first time tomorrow morning and am actually excited.

Sunny, Thinking of you.

Everyone, I am finally loving this band. My thinking is very slowly (and admittedly with lots of mistakes) changing back to my thin ways. I can see that this is going to work for us!! I did a bad thing out of habit and it created my first slime/pb!! My band "caught me!!!" I had grabbed a bag of potato chips (ones I like, shouldn't have even bought them!!) and sat down at my computer. (habit eating). Shoving them down I suddenly realized they weren't going to work. I'm not even upset about the pb (by the way is wasn't really like vomiting) because my band kept me from continuing a habit that won't get me thin!

I'm glad everyone is coming back to the boards! CC

Hello all.

Well, today went much better at Hunters evaluation. In fact, the lady told me today that his motor skills are just fine, and his social skills are out of this world. She scored the test and came back to tell me he was actually 2 points OVER for his age, which wouldn't qualify him??? But she said she would take another look at it, and change some things slightly because she thinks he's just awesome, and will help the other kids in the speech area since he talks a lot. And to think about a year and a half a go we thought he'd never talk!!!!!!!!!! So it looks like he'll be starting preschool in about a month. I'm so excited for him, and he's so anxious to ride the bus to school. I'll have to take some time off work so I don't miss the first day of school!!!!!!!!!

Cazulay, I'm so jealous, they told me not to try salads until week 8, so on Monday, I'll be eating salads!!!

Thanks great news Lynette:clap2::clap2:

I am sorry I didn't get to post yesterday. I was out late and when I came home went straight to bed.

Thank you all for your support and care over the death of my Daisy girl. I really miss her but have great, great memories. The really sad thing is watching my other dog, Rocky go around looking for her.

I went yesterday and had my first fill under fluro. He put in just over 1 cc in a 4cc band. He said it was a little more than he usually does for a first fill but since I could eat anything... It is a little tight under fluro but liquids are going down ok. He checked with me today to make sure I was ok and told me to call next week and let him know how it is doing unless I have problems before then. If that happens I am to call immediately. I am on liquids for a couple of days and I think I will put some Soup in my Magic Bullet to liquify it and have it for supper. Hope it all goes down well.

My stomach is not noisy (except for right since I have been on Clear Liquids since yesterday and I am hungry). I get occasional hicups.

It is so great to be able to read how others are coping with fills and know you are not alone. This such a great group.

Lynette, yeah to Hunter! Like Kathy I thought this was a private school. I can't believe the public school system is doing this.

Dini girl, welcome back. Sorry you are having such problems with baby sitters. I remember those days. How exciting that your trip to Italy is so soon. I hope you have lots of fun. My niece just flew to Italy for a semester of college. She is in Genoa. Wish y'all could meet.

Indio, way to go on the exercise. I really need to step mine up.

Chim, 17Lbs! That is so great.

Lauren, good to know the second fill is easy. I can tell it really made a difference for you. That's so exciting.

CC, good to know the band is doing its job. I've been caught to. I sure need help changing my bad eating habits.

I know I have missed responding to many but I didn't take notes as usual. Hello to all.

Goodevening ladies,

CC- I'm still on mushies but I specifically asked about salads, and the PA told me to wait a week or two and try it. If you chew really well, it really disintergrates in your mouth. I had one for luch again today. This one I made a variation of strawberry salad, with Musclin mix, strawberries, a few dried cranberries, toasted walnuts and the rasberry vinegarett salad spritzer----UNBELIEVABLE---

I had some fish (white fish)- other than tuna its the first fish that I have tried....I actually had a hard time with that. I find when I eat by myself, I am able to consentrate more and chew better, when I sit down with my family, I have such a hard time thinking about what Im doing--I trying to listen to the kids, make sure everyone has what they need...SO, I just put a piece of fish in my mouth and barely chewed it and it got stuck.. I just waited it out...it took about 5 minutes for it to pass through, but it was the longest 5 minutes. I felt like I couldn't even breath...Thank God it was a flakey soft fish and It passed quickly, if that was steak, I think I would have had to PB it. I have to stop and think what I am doing, or I revert back to my old habbits.

Lynette- glad to hear everything went well with Hunter today

Chim- Congrats on 17lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had my very first fill today!! Did'nt hurt at all. He put 2 cc's in my 10 cc band. The doc has me on full liquids for 48 hours, then I can start back to regular food.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Anna, I did the same thing but not with fish. I was eating with friends and then suddenly...chest pain. Had to walk around. I think it was chicken. I just didn't concentrate on chewing and swallowed. I hope that lesson has been learned.

Hi everyone!

Lynette, Great news about Hunter's evaluation. I know this put your mind at ease. And I'm sure he'll do great in preschool.

All, I've got my first fill tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it and the weigh in, although I don't like his scale compared to mine at home, but it's all relative. I wonder if he'll think I've accomplished as much as I do. I feel like I've done really well, losing 26 lbs in 53 days.

I am supposed to be still on mushies, but I've been eating mainly soft foods, but feeling guilty. Although, I've kept the calories very restrictive, I still feel like I've been cheating. I'm anxious to see what the band restriction feels like and how it impacts my appetite!

Only, I have a friend who had a High School Musical 2 sleepover for her kids. Oh my goodness. It was crazy! All the little girls were drooling over Zack. HAHAHAAAA!!! And they were young, too. I just had to laugh.

Brandy, good luck w/your fill tomorrow. And yes, you have done FABULOUS w/your wt loss! 26lbs in 53 days is a huge accomplishment!!! They are gone forever! WOOHOO!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
