Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Chimboree, I was lucky I was able to sleep and I agree with all the junk in your hair - it took 2 washing to get it all out

NewCC - my port is on my left side, about 4 or 5 inches below my bra line.

Icybreeze, Righ now I am only counting protien cuz i am on liquids

Lynette - I want a rare hamburger patty. You are on mushie/pureed stage?? Have you tried mushing up some fish - hamburger - or ground turkey and how about veggies if you could get some of those in your diet wouldn't need so many carb items.

I am only counting Protein right now cuz I am only having small quaintity of food 1/2 to 1 cup of Soup (healthy request w/skim milk) Protien drinks and s/f pudding.

I am having a hard time getting my Protein in - i had a shake (which i am sick of already) this morning and that's it - and haven't really drank enought Water. I have been on the computer downloading to my new ipod and then cam here to see whats up.. and it's 4:30 cali time

Well tomorrow is the day.:faint: I am so excited!!! I am worried about the gas pain but I guess a few days of discomfort for a lifetime of health is well worth the trade.

I want to that everyone for your well wishes and prayers. I will have to stay in the hospital overnight but if I am feeling up to it I will post again on Tuesday when I get home. I plan to sleep in the recliner and my daughter told me tonight she will get her laptop all set up for me when I come her bless her soul. She has been very mothering these past two weeks with the liquid diet so I am sure she will be a wonderful nurse afterwards. HAHA.

I also want to wish all my fellow band day friends good luck and I will be praying for you.

I won't be able to post tomrrow night either so I am wishing all of the people scheduled on July 24 good luck also.

WE ARE ALMOST BANDSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:whoo::whoo::whoo:

Jackie,

Good luck tomorrow.

I'll be banded the 24th, so the next time we "see" each other we'll be bandsters! I'm overnight in the hospital so I'll post when I get home later in the week.

Take care.

Hello Everyone. I'm Kelli and getting banded on July 24 (next Tuesday) YIKES!!! I'm actually so excited I can't wait. I just thought I would introduce myself because I've been reading all of your posts for awhile now and just got up the nerve to write. Well good luck to all who have and haven't been banded yet. July is OUR month!!!!

I'm on my pre-op diet now for the past 6 days and have lost 3 pounds and I have 4 more days to go. It really isn't as bad as a have heard. The Protein shakes are a life saver.

Well, talk soon and please add me to your calender, prayers, ect....

Kelli

My name is Cate and I will have my surgery next Tues. the 24th. I am on day 7 of my pre op diet and have lost 10 lbs so far. I have learned a lot in the past few days reading the posts. I am so glad I found this site. I have high hopes for this band. My only concern is that they will find too much scar tissue from a previous surgery and not be able to perform the lapband. I just have to hope for the best.

I don't know if this will even show up as I have no idea what I am doing. LOL.

Hi Kelli and Cate,

My sister and I are being banded July 24 too! Welcome to the thread.

Lynette & Chimboree

Thanks for remembering.

Hello Lucky 7's

I miss a day on here and it take two to catch up with you all.

Its been one *&^% of a week around here. My truck is still broke, my motorcycle broke too. My 13 year old collie had a major stroke and I had to have her put down. Could not leave her here with the kids and me gone for days. Not fare to her or them, but it broke my heart. Ok enough of the bad.. on the other hand I got the job I applied for and enterviewed for this week at OSU. Big pay raise from what I was making at the public school so I will be able to buy a new car if they don't get my truck fixed. And best of all I fly out at 8am Monday morning and have pre-op test tommorrow and get banded on Tuesday!!! I am so ready to get out of here and get this started!

Good luck to everyone having it done this week. I'll be praying for all of us!

Thanks for the port site information everyone. It sounds like mine is going where everyone else's is! It's getting so close, I can't wait to have my own. ( I think more to get it over with!) Prayers for everyone getting banded tomorrow and for those traveling tomorrow. Again I am very thankful I can get mine done so close to home. I really admire those who are traveling to get one!

Hi, Dini,

Yes, I'm still a little sore today. The usual..port site aches, left shoulder and neck. Then when I finally had my first poop, I got the runs something terrible for an hour or so. It quit as abruptly as it started.

I'm doing a little better with liquids and Protein today. I've had 40 gms of protein, 338 calories, 40 oz of sugar free stuff. Tried the Peanut Butter in my chocolate protein and it was a nice change.

Prayers and best wishes for those being banded tomorrow. We're all in this together and it makes such a difference.

Indiogirl,

Glad you are doing better today. We will definitely have to get together when we come south this winter. And I'm hoping toattend some of Dr. Bobby's support group meetings.

Welcome cate54!

:help: So I am just finishing up my day 3 and I started drinking my Protein Drinks today. I am drinking Profect as they have 25 grams of Protein in only 2.9 ounces with no carbs and no sugars. They don't taste bad and are fruity. I had been able to get down about 40-50- ounces of Clear Liquids, but now I am so full from the protein drinks that I am only getting down like 30-35. Any suggestions? I read someone suggested beei-protein like beni-fiber which dissolves and is tastelss? Does that work? Has anyone heard of it? Do they sell it at Wal-mart? I need someehing to mix into my Water and broth to get more protein in. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Other than that doing great. The worst of my pain is gas in my chest and back.

Congrats to all the new bandsters and the soon to be bandsters!!! Woo hoo, we can do it!!!

You can try Any Whey-I got mine at GNC. I wouldn't mix it with water, but I have mixed it in with my shakes, broth, mashed potatoes etc.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
