Welcome to all the newbies Sheelah, stonersmom, only4me, mommiranda, rebeccah411 and anyone else I may have missed. This is a great group and its growing day by day. Such good support.

Lynette, bfynentyme, and Beefy Irish--Good Luck tomorrow!!! My thoughts are prayers are with you.:whoo::clap2::whoo::clap2::whoo:

Lynette, how does the 4 oz slimfast with a scoop of Protein Powder taste frozen. I think SF is nasty by itself. I hope you had a great meal last night. you can let the DH take one in your birthday suit...:heh:

Dini, I am so glad to hear you are doing well on the losing side. Save a place for me. gotta look out for my li'l sis.:)

Marcy, I love the Reverse Body Dismorphic Disorder. I suffer from this also. Pictures are such a surprise to me. I will tell people this is what I suffer from. Sounds like Nome is great. You are so active. That is going to be such a plus after you have your surgery. Happy 4th.

Chimboree, welcome back. We missed you. glad you are getting you computer issues worked out. We need you here.

Kathybad, I am excited to have someone having surgery on my day:whoo:Sorry you have a preop diet. What part of Canada do you live in?

LyssaRene, I love Boris. I think, if you don't mind, he will be my personal trainer, too. The name reminds me of the movie, True Lies, Boris and Doris..;)

I got my official letter from the doc yesterday. Surg is 7/26 at 10:30 am. Have to be at the hospital at 8:30. I go 7/19 for preop tests, anesthesia consult, and preop dr visit. It is so strange that it is no longer next month that I am having surgery but just a few weeks. I have so much I need to do to get ready and the house ready...:faint:

Laurend

Good Luck on your surgery 7/3.... My thoughts & prayers will be with you on Tuesday...

Janet

Laurend, I can't believe it is so soon. Good luck with the surgery. We will be awaiting

news on how you are doing.

Thanks, guys! I'll try to post as soon as possible after my surgery, but it will probably be at least a few days before I can.

Laurened hows's our BMI / weight loss chart going ??
It's going well. I haven't gotten stats from a bunch of people, though, so I am only going to post the spreadsheet with the stats of everyone who's sent their stats to me. So far, I have 72 people on our spreadsheet, but only about 15 or 16 people have sent me their height and their beginning weight, and I only have updated weights for 3 people this week. I've attached two spreadsheets, one that lists everyone and one that only lists the people that I have stats for.

Remember, everyone, I can add you to the spreadsheet at any time. Actually, I already have everyone added to it (I think), so all you need to do is post or PM me your height, beginning weight, and then post or PM me your current weight every week.

Lynette, Beefy, and Bfynentyme good luck tomorrow, am definitely feeling your excitement and anxiousness. I start my 7 day liquid diet on the 4th and the surgery is on the 11th.....

For some reason, thinking about surgery makes me nauseous maybe partly due to the actual surgery part and the other side would be the fear of failure once again.....am I crazy? And if I am....could someone tell me?:)

Marcy, I know of the Thomas family in Ketchikan, so it is a small world after all......I only lived in K-town for 10 years, before that I lived in Metlakatla. I left the state wanting to be in a warmer place.....and I've found it!! lol I'll leave the snow and crappy weather to you all.....;)

Hi Sunny,

I live in London, Ontario. That is about 2 hours from Toronto, half way between Toronto and Detroit.

I love my magic bullit. I use it several times a day. Even with a regular Protein Shake and a few ice cubes, I can make a shake consistancy drink which is a treat. I am not real fond of coffee, but I love the Cappacino Slimfast. Thank goodness there are a few things that get us by.

Thanks, Lauren for the spreadsheet. I didn't send any update since I was the same basically. I will IM you for 6/30 information. Good luck with your surgery on Tuesday.

Kathybad, I know where are talking about. I have been to Toronto numerous times to visit a friend. She lives in Calgary now and I have not been there. I want to lose some weight before going. Isn't it sad that I have not done something I want because of my weight. Boy, I really need this surgery.

sleep well, Lynette.

Now I have to go find the most recent calendar and update it so I know who is having surgery and when. Lauren, maybe you can add a date of surg column so we can see the changes after surgery. Just a suggestion.

laurend,

If you would please add me to your stats sheet. My height is 67 and my beginning weight is 278, I will let you know what my weight is after my 5 day liquid diet before surgery if you would like to add that.

Thanks for keeping that for everyone, it is really nice to be able to see how other people are doing, it is very motivating!

Thanks everyone for the welcomes!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
