Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello my fellow July Bandsters, Old and new... Dini I hope you feel better really soon...... Well.... today is the last day I can eat, I'm having meatballs and mashed potatoes, my last coke and white chocolate macadamia nut Cookies, for my farewell dinner:hungry:. My fridge is stocked with Slim Fast Optima shakes, crystal light, etc. I am so nervous, I'm afraid I will cheat and ruin everything. I'm hoping I won't, I just have to keep saying it's only for a short period of time, compared to a lifetime of eating crap. Wish me luck.

I have created a list of goals/things that I want to do or be able to do. Some of them may sound funny, but they mean a lot to me. So, here goes...just a few of them:

- To have a healthy, sexy, toned body - ooh la la mon cherie!

- I want to be able to cross my legs comfortably (if I want to).

- I want exercise to be a normal part of my life, just like brushing my teeth.

- I want to be able to see my belly button w/o lifting up a roll.

- I want to wear an iPod fitness strap and have it actually fit my arm, w/o an extension.

- I want to be able to wear a bathing suit w/o the skirt thingy on the bottom or a cover-up.

- I want to be healed/cured of PCOS, so that I can have regular periods (can’t believe I’m saying that one), babies (later on), and not have a mustache and goatee (the shaving, waxing, and plucking has gotten old)!!!

-To be able to wrap a REGULAR towel all the way around w/o having an opening

Isn't it funny how these little things will mean so much???

Enjoy that farewell dinner! And no, you won't ruin everything. We have faith in you! And if you slip up, just brush yourself off and keep on trucking. You can do it!

Hie everyone,

how you doing? I've not had a great experience, like Breadlady!

I get the taxi after i let my last post on tuesday morning!

I was 1st to get banded which as fab on lady was waiting 8 hours.

Out of 6 of us i was the only person with the shoulder pain! it was so awful and i am still in a LOT of pain!

I feel like i need to be streached out! I can feel the band through my skin! that doesn't bother me though.

Annafrancesca has already dug her foot into me which made me tear up for 5 mins thats was also very sore

After the surgery i went to the toilet to change into my pyjams and i collapse hitting my head off the sink! i dont know exactly how long i was out for but it made al the pain even worst.

at 11pm last night the nurses gave us morphine and that didn't work on me, i tried to sleep sitting in the chair but the nurses can in and told me to get to bed as i was trying to get into bed, they kind of pushed me down, and they caused me to really hurt myself i taught i wasn't breathing with the pain. this happened earlier in the day! they blamed the gas but i honestly believe it was from when i colasped i had one of the attacked earlier in the evening about 7.30pm

I'm not home long, i'm just hoping that the pain eases soon cos it's not very nice. i wish it upon NO-ONE

If anyone wants to know anything just ask, i'm sorry to post that i've not got on great but i feel you should know the good with the bad, and also i honestly believe that if i had not collasped i wouldn't be in this pain.

Welcome all the newbies welcome on bored

Oh also thanks for your nice wishes xx

Dini I am so sorry your experience has been terrible so far. Sounds like you need lots hugs compassion and it doesn't sound like your nurses were doing that well in that department. Take care girl!!!! We are thinking of you.

Just got home from my day of doctoring. I had all of my pre-op tests run this morning. They said everything was good to go. My surgery is all set for 7:30 am on July 12th. I met with my doctor the first part of February and finally my time is about here. I am so excited. All of the workers at the hospital were so very supportive and friendly. I am counting the days. They said that I might not have to spend the night cause my surgery was so early in the morning. Is that really a posiblity? I just wondered cause I will need to find someone to come and pick me up. What ever! All is good so far.

Dini, I hope you are feeling better. It doesn't seem like much else can go wrong, so since you are getting all of the bad stuff out of the way first, you should be on the upward treck now. I sure hope so. You and Breadlady have been my inspiration. Hang in there. We are praying for you.

Have a great evening everyone. July is just around the corner!

Patti, yes it is a possibility to get out the same day. It depends on your Dr and how well you are doing after surgery. I'm hoping to do the same thing since my surgery is at 8 am.

Wow! July is filling up!! I printed the calendar a couple of days ago but now so many have been added I to print it again. Thanks for keeping that up to date, Chimboree!

Dini, Hope you are feeling better by now! So sorry you had such a negative experience so far.

Indiogirl, how are you doing with the smoking? We're cheering for you!

'm struggling with my pre-op diet. I've been very hungry for the past two days and the scale is not moving which makes it even more frustrating I am thinking of trying to switch to Adkins for a few days. I've lost 20 lb. but the dr. wants me to lose 10 more before surgery.

Hang in there. Of course that's easy for me to say, right??? Especially since my doc doesn't require a pre-op diet. (Sorry...not trying to rub it in.)

I can only imagine. I drank one of my Protein Shakes for lunch today and by dinner, I was starving!!! But I know you can do it...especially since you have to. That always seems to give us that extra little push.

Chimboree...THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. Keeping the posts rolling and keeping everyone aprized of what is going on.

I feel good and I am ready for my surgery day. I am not so much hungry with my preop diet, as I am bored with the food and would like to eat something "real". I am being strong and I am proud of that.:biggrin1:

Hubby and I have been going to the gym on our lunch hour. I figure I have spent and hour for all my adult life on eating....now it's time to spend an hour trying to get this "extra person" off my back.:amen:

Dini...you are in my prayers. Hang in there, it will get better. I have to say reading the post about your hard times makes me nervous but I will do anything to be normal for once in my life.

Goals: Regular exercise...maybe even an athlete one day. I want to be: A more active mom who has more active children. A good role model. In control of my food and not the other way around. Finally, not looking at a family picture and cringing.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
