Anyone going through Kaiser permanente?

Recommended Posts

I've taken the surgery orientation at kaiser and it seems to be at a much faster pace than others. I wanted to know if anyone else went through. Kaiser and what their experience was like.

Thanks!

Mine went really quick. Lost my 12 lbs in a month. In the mean time I did the support class and nutrition glass. Met with the psychologist and the surgeon right away. March 26 Orientation. May 29th, 2014 surgery.

Everything is great!!!! I'm down 62lbs since surgery and 75 total. I have 20 lbs to go. I have the sleeve. I've only thrown up once through out this whole process. I can eat anything just small amounts. Usually about 3 or 4 bites of something. I did experience heartburn months 2-4 but now it's all gone. Best thing I've ever done for my self.

I am using south sac I'm only four days postop. I absolutely love their program it was very fast for me as well. You can go in and do most of your appointments in one month it can definitely be done within three months. I'm doing well better than everyone anticipated and I'm super happy.

Kaiser Southern CA is very different. We have to go through six months of options classes. Mine finally start tomorrow. Did the orientation, starter pre-op tests/labs, met with head of bariatric program, where I was told I was approved for the options program (this was on 10/06) and now I've been waiting over a month for classes to start. They told us at orientation the whole process averages 9 months. It's a great program, but the waiting is very hard.

I've heard that about Kaiser San Diego too. I'm so thankful it was a speedy process. My two month wait was forever. Now I can't believe I'm almost 6 mo post op. It's surreal

I just scheduled my orientation at Kaiser Fremont for the 25th of November. I am so excited but have a million questions on what to expect and how long it typically takes at Fremont to go through the whole process. Any one out there going through Kaiser Fremont's program and can give me some insight?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
