Day of surgery!

  • Popular Post

It's time! On my way to the hospital right now! Surgery is in 2 hrs. I really hate hospitals but I am so excited it doesn't even matter. I've struggled through so much to get here that it's miracle this is even happening! To thank everyone for their stories I figured I would try share mine on this post. I'll keep you updated! :)

Hello everyone!

My surgery was yesterday in Houston and everything went as planned including repairing my Hiatal hernia! They gave me something to relax about 10 minutes before they took me back. My surgery took 1 hour 15 minutes then I was in the surgery recovery room for 2 hours (I don't even remember being in the surgery recovery room.) My husband was anxiously waiting for me in my hospital room. Yesterday I felt pretty good because I had an automatic morphine drip and I also had a push button if I needed more (I loved that thin) I was up most of the night with everyone checking on me. Respiratory breathing treatments 3 times (15 minutes each time) checking my BP and puls-oz and changing out my IV fluids and antibiotics. It's way busier than during the day! I would recommend bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper because of all the movement in the hallways. This morning they stopped my automatic morphine drip so all I have is my push button. 2 ounces at a time up to 5 times -an hour! I had my barium swallow to check for any leaks and no leaks!!

I will have to say drinking that Fluid 4tablespoons totally filled me up!! Make sure you tell them that your stomach is the size of banana so it won't take as much liquid to coat your stomach. I had to stand up because It didn't feel like it was going slow. 20 minutes after we got back from that....my chicken broth, Jello and Water showed up. I drank 1 ounce of the chicken broth that took me about 15 minutes to sip it all. I also had two bites of raspberry jello.

If anything it feels like in having a very bad period!!

I Hope it went well. I'm sitting in registration now. 3 hours to VSG time.

Wow, how do I get your surgeon.........2 ounces of morphine, 5 times and hour and I think you'd be speaking to us from the afterlife..... :P

Glad your procedure went well! My surgery is scheduled for 2 days from today. I hope everything goes as smooth as it went for you.

Congrats on your new journey! You can do it. Remember to take your body measurements every month, you are going to be astounded by how your body is going to change for the better :)

Was discharged yesterday! I've been at home relaxing, feels great to be home. I also get to add protein shakes and creamy soup to my days now so I welcome those new flavors! Still working on walking and keeping my pain levels low

Good luck!!! ❤

Thanks everyone! Good luck to all of you! This journey is worth all the trouble. So I've been home 2 and half days now and things are looking great. I am waiting to weigh myself til my first week is over so all the swelling can go down. I can't wait til i can take out this Drain on Monday!! but other than that my pain levels have gone down quite a bit. My one incision on the right hurts and is still swollen but it's definitely getting better. The only trouble ive had was some major grumbling gas pains and some dumping with skim milk. I think ill wait longer before adding that back!.... It's still a little surreal that my surgery was just last Monday! I think by the time i start adding real food back it will sink in more.
