How do I tell work I am having surgery?

I work at a long term / rehab.

Staffing is always an issue.

I got my date and now it's time to tell HR. Problem is, I don't know how?

I used about half my FMLA earlier this year and now I only have enough left for about 4 or 5 weeks and I need 6 weeks off.

I want to be open and tell them I'm having VSG, but don't want the whole facility to know lol

Uhg, I need some advise :)

Thanks :)

I am taking a week off and I am NOT telling my job! I have an office job and just don't want NOBODY in my personal business! If need be when I am off I will tell them of the hiatal hernia repair but nothing more than that!

I told my job the hiatal hernia repair. I was only off 4 days but I do have a desk job. So it worked for me. good luck and do protect yourself.

I am an LNA and my job is very strenuous. I have to be out 5 weeks tops. I found out I have 4 1/2 weeks FMLA left so I'm pretty excited about that

@nikki9 FMLA is the same amount of days per year for everyone... if you have more than one chronic condition... you are suppose to get approved for each...but they can't ask you why you are taking FMLA days once you are approved :)
