Bailey Bariatrics in Owasso

Recommended Posts

I was self pay and I had the sleeve done. They were able to get my insurance company to cover the pre surgical testing that is required. I paid about $17,000 and that covered the surgery, the Drs, one night in the hospital. Basically the 2 days in the hospital, the $17,000 covered it. But if anything extra is needed like additional tests, additional doctors, additional time in the hospital, etc then they will bill your insurance first, and you are responsible for the rest.

How's everyone doing? I've been very bad the last few weeks and not eating what I should be eating. His is so much harder than I had imagined. Anyone else having difficulty eating right? Anyone have any suggestions or will give me a kick in the ass for being stupid?? I didn't go through all of this to start making poor choices and get fat again. ????

Ugh, I've been struggling too. I've been stuck at the same weight for about a month, which makes it even harder to stay motivated to eat right! Starting today, I'm getting back to basics - only focusing on Protein and no carbs! We can do this!

Please take advantage of the first 6 months after surgery when weight loss is the most, it really does slow down after that. If your having problems in the first 6 months, take a step back, think about why you did this, what you want out of this, and make the changes you and only you have to make, to make it work. Yes, we can do this!! I've got 10 lbs to go to lose 100 total, definitely want to get there before my 1 year in Sept.

Mine is the 13th too if it’s still happening. Who is your surgeon? And how are you doing on your two week diet?

I’m not recent, I had surgery 3/4/15 but if you have any questions, I’ll answer them.

Ty so much. Right now the diet before hand is killing me and my surgery might be canceled because I messed up. Will find out Monday.

Twins! My diet is going ok. I’ve slipped a little bit with a few bites. I’m with Dr. Cole. Are you second guessing having surgery?

I’m with him as well mine is supposed to be at 6am. No not all but I really cheated and I called the dr office and talked to the nurse this afternoon. I explained what happened and she said she didn’t know if he would still accept that and let the surgery happen

I don’t have a surgery time scheduled yet, they said they would call the day before to let me know what time. I do preop testing on Monday.

I hope he still lets the surgery happen, for your sake. Have you gained weight ? I haven’t lost but a couple pounds and I’m scared they will think I haven’t being following the diet. If you ever need to talk or a distraction from this awful preop diet, feel free to message me.

My prep as long as it is still happening is Tuesday at 9.

They gave me the time early since we don’t live in Owasso.

Ty I appreciate it same for you too I’m always on here since I found this site a few days ago.

We have the strictest diet I have found in comparison to others.

I have actually lost 20lbs even with my big slide.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
