let us know how you're doing!

Does the fee include airfare? If not, how much was it and where did you come from? I have a twin sister and I don't want to do this without her. We're about the same stats but her insurance doesn't cover hers. I'm hoping to have my surgery in Jan or Feb. and I want her to have hers after mine so I can travel with her. She'll be self pay so I'm trying to gather a lot of info for her. Thanks all and good luck!

I flew into San Diego from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I used miles to buy my air ticket so it came out to $119.50 I think. some where along those lines.

I checked the prices and united was the cheapest, it was around $900.00 round trip. I always upgrade to first class so it would have been around $1100.00 total.

Airfare was not included.

The staff is very nice. Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela is who did my surgery. (I couldn't spell it so I copied and pasted).

I was scared to death as I voiced that prior to the surgery. I had many fears and I found them to be nothing. No Catheter. No mask that deprives me of oxygen. They put me under via IV. My throat isn't sore. I am going to be telling everyone about this place.

I keep hearing horns honking and one of the nurses told me it was because we are right by the border and everyone is honking to get into the US. The cool thing about where I'm at, I use straight talk for my phone service (its AT&T) and I've had phone service here from the US side since I'm only 3 blocks away. The hospital has wifi but I've been able to use my phone as well.

Others have complained their their phones don't work here. I think its funny, I'm on the cheap pre-paid phone plan and still have service and they aren't on the cheap plan and have no service.

There is a costco within sight, I've been tempted to grab a taxi and go shopping... I can take 2 bags for free with me on the plan, so I could buy another suit case and fill it up LOL. We don't have costco in Tulsa. I was thinking I could fill it full of cheap Tequila but then I realized I can only take 3 bottles home with me.... not like I'll be drinking anytime soon.

One more thing I thought I'd add... I haven't had to take my depression medication one bit. I just haven't been depressed. I have no hunger pains at all. they have told me to stay hydrated.

Also, Barclays World Elite Mastercard has a $400.00 travel credit if you sign up and get approved. That will help offset your plane ticket.

And I'm home, resting comfortably in my bed.

I arrived at the San Diego Airport at 11:05. I didn't even have a ticket. Southwest changed my ticket from tomorrow to today and got me on the 11:30 flight.

I was home by 6:11.

I am so happy to be home. It always amazes me how I can go from one side of the country to the other in no time.

Glad you are doing well. I think I will add this doctor to my Plan B surgery in Mexico list. Thanks for the report!

I'm having it done in Mexico and also traveling alone. I live in NY and I'm concerned about the flight home. How did you do? Pain, vomiting, nausea? My flight will be 6 hours and I'm terrified it'll be too soon to fly home.

I was fine flying home. On one layover, I stopped and went into a nice restaurant and ordered french onion Soup and Water. I only drank the broth and sipped on the Water very slowly. No pain;. I then got the rest of it to go, grabbed my flight and took a few more spoon fulls after we were in the air, then I threw the rest away. I wanted to eat the bread and cheese so bad but didn't.

I kept drinking apple juice to keep my energy levels up.

I haven't vomited once yet. I felt nausea after the surgery but they gave me stuff for that.

For pain they give you a very light narcotic. its not very strong at all.

I don't feel much pain in my stomach. It's mild discomfort.

Today I walked 3 miles with no problem. I'm going to try to do another 3 miles tonight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
